 TW 2002 on Android
My girlfriend borrowed my laptop this morning and I wanted to check my game and so i found an app in the android market called TjTelnet. A nice little telnet program with ANSI. Because of the screen size of the Android, a lil annoying, prob better for a kindle or something like that with a better sized screen, but no awesome SWATH. Just putting an F.y.i.

 Re: TW 2002 on Android
I gave some thought to providing an output mode with some special screen formatting that are better suited for mobile telnet clients, but I wasn't sure if it would be worth the effort.

I use lunaterm to play on an emergency basis I have logged in a few times when I got a message we were being invaded, so they would think I was actually at the keys until I could get home .... I have rebanged games and made t-edit colies changes on terra while cruising around town.... but never on the bike.

Yes, very effective indeed! I know the first time I played against T0yman on Ice-9 he logged in on his phone - told me later of course. We halted attacking his corp figs when he logged on. So, if you see T0yman logging into a game in the middle of the work day, you never know if he's on his gaming PC or his phone. Go ahead and invade him anyway to see what happens. I don't know anything about mobile technology yet, except how to style a web page so it views properly, but I think rather than JP changing how the game displays, that would be up to the developer of the mobile app to take what's given and edit it for different mobile devices. It seems to me it would be similar to a web page having different style sheets for different browsers.

 Re: TW 2002 on Android
Well, that's true to a degree, Cruncher. It would be nice to see clients for TW on mobile devices. We haven't seen them yet. What I'm talking about is, if mobile devices support a smaller screen size than standard telnet, I could maybe add support for other screen sizes. But I don't know what screen sizes are supported on mobile devices. Do they support a full 25x80 telnet screen?

 Re: TW 2002 on Android
Specifically for android there are so many RDC clients out there that are free is it worth the effort?

 Re: TW 2002 on Android
Not enough resolution for a true RDC environment to much panning around to see everything. Having a swath type interface with some simple functions like colo, buydown, or just moving around would be nice. I don't know anyone that would play an entire game but I would pay for an app to do some simple functions.

 Re: TW 2002 on Android
One of the reasons I'm writing my helper in Java... okay, one of the convenient side-effects of Java being the only language I'm comfortable enough with to write such complex app ...is that Android runs Java. The Android API is a subset of the J2EE API, so it'll be a major rework. But it's certainly possible.

 Re: TW 2002 on Android
I think it would definitely make your app stand out if it could support TW on mobiles.

Like Toyman suggests, the display is too small for full game play (smart phones), but some tablets may have a large enough display to run full screen.
