How would my suggestion cripple the game?
I'm sorry, wrong person, it was Silence. I know JP has explored this option and while it may put a stop or hinder data mining and hunting scripts, it will also hinder the way causual players play.

I believe the easiest way to solve a lot of these problems is to limit the amount of information one can datamine. If you were to remove the ability for scripter's to log warp paths into a ztm, it would slow the game down immensely.
As impossible as it may be to implement, It would be effective.

From what I've seen you are looking to return the game to how I originally played it on a WWIV BBS. IF that is the case, why not just set it so only one person can log in at a time?
Multiplayer has revolutionized the way this game is played. I'm grateful JP is working on the game, and that he is working with his playerbase. Like I've said before, there is no one right way to play this game. JP has given the SysOps the tools for them to create unique ways to play, and it is up to them to decide on which type of players they would like to cater to.
I'm in a unlim game now with helix on UTW. I'd be interested in hooking up with you for a turn game. I do prefer those to unlims as I don't have the time to babysit a game at all hours of the night, but they are a bit more forgiving when returning to the game after an extended absence. Hit me up on ICQ or PM me Cruncher.
I just opened a game on my server at JP's request. The game is closed from 11:55 PM until 5:00 AM - let's everyone sleep without worrying about a game. From 5:00AM til 7:00PM the game is in single user mode - first one on gets to play and lockes everyone else out until they're finished, just like the single line dial-ups. Then from 7:00PM til 11:55PM the game is in multi player mode for the socal aspect.
I'd love to play you Oso, just short on time right now. And trying to get Farley to sit still and take it like a man! Hehe.. Game A on the beta server. As soon as that one's finished I'll give ya a hollar.
