Unread post TWX Question
I'm wondering if there's a way to make a script execute TWX and set it up with the right server, and then execute the rest of the script.

I'm working with T0ymans Death Counter script.

The idea struck me that if the script could do this, I could set up a timer to run the script every 24 hours.

The timer would execute the script, which in turn would execute TWX, set the correct server, log in, read the V day and then execute the balance of the script. It they would write the file like V4 Death Totals and log off and wait for the next time the timer executes it.

Be gentle with me. I've barely got my feet wet with scripting.

I usually leave a TWX version sitting idle , and you can make it connect/login/run/disconnect at a timed interval. Let me know this evening I should be around or if you send me what you thinking I can send a few idea's to you. The way I am talking would not require a telnet window connection but it would just run in the background.
I modded the script and sent to you so it will run once on a timer, could make the timer a little different but I figured we can start there and work at it more if need be ;)

My idea was to make it so that I didn't have to leave a TWX running and simply have the script start it if it wasn't running. I'll check out your changes and thanks.

Might be able to hard code the info and use a batch file or scheduler to run it from the TWGS console. I have never done that though so might have to ask V'Ger how he does it.

I use a modded version of TWX that was written for me by one of my players a few years ago. Basically, I have the TWGS scheduler executes a batch file, which launches TWX, auto connects (the connection script also does what I want it to do), and then ends the TWX session when it is over.

Not sure if any of these features were added to a more recent release of TWX.
