Unread post Re: resetting static array
Thanks for the info +EP+. I did a script that gets the MCIC values from the database using the getSectorParameter command. It echoes them out. I was looking over the list. I think I have visited most of these ports manually moving around and trading, and when I do this I run your ep_haggle2009.cts script. I placed your haggle.ts script in the include subdirectory and that runs when I am running WorldTrade. So, when I looked back over the port values echoed out, I saw that there aren't many sectors with the MCIC params written to them. So which script writes the params to the DB, the ep_haggle.cts or the haggle.ts script?

Also, I am a little confused about what you were saying about MCIC values. Here is an example from some trading I just did, using your ep_haggle.cts script running port pair trading with SWATH. Sector 16693 the port is selling organics and buying equipment, and the MCIC values your script echoes is -57 for the equipment it is buying and 64 for the organics it is selling. Sector 14456 is buying organics and selling equipment, and the MCIC values echoed are -60 for the organics it is buying and 51 for the equipment it is selling.

You were saying above that the closer to 0 the MCIC is the worse the deal is for you. But I read somewhere, I think it was the Cabal site but I'm not sure, that for product it is buying you want a low negative number and for the products it is selling you want a high positive number.

So my understanding was that the example above would be a bad pair because the buying MCIC at the one is -57 and the buying MCIC at the other is -60, which is pretty high and I thought you wanted that number to be low. Am I misunderstanding the way I want to interpret the MCIC's?

MCIC stands for "maximum change in cost" and is basically the "leeway" a port will give you. From my
understanding there's a base rate for all products, and MCIC is basically an adjustment factor that
lets you get a better or worse average deal on that port.

When dealing with xxB ports, the lower the number (-60 is lower than -50, they're negative numbers)
the more they'll pay (on average) per unit. That means you want a number that's "as far away from 0
as possible" on your buyers, ie: the more negative, the better.

When dealing with xxS ports it's a little different. Let me give you some test numbers I just pulled.

On the same port I went into t-edit and adjusted the MCIC. I went to sell 10 units of orgs. Here's the
results:

org MCIC 50 - 141
org MCIC 42 - 193
org MCIC 30 - 232

The starting rate was 42, so you can see how it goes. The higher the MCIC, the less they charge you.
The lower the MCIC, the more they charge you. This means when buying from a port w/ the intention of
selling that product later you want the most profit possible, ie: the highest possible MCIC. Again,
the number furthest from 0 as you put it.

However when working with megarobs things are different, and when doing other red stuff, it hardly
matters. The goal of a mega is to put as much cash on the port as possible, so you actually want
the worst possible MCIC (the lowest MCIC you can find) for that. That means that when doing megas as
a strategy instead of going for "the number furthest from 0" you actually want "the lowest possible
MCIC" for all your ports regardless.
