 Tip 6: Stock Planet Production

This is info taken from a post in Feb 2001.

Hekate’s Input:

A planets maximum production is based on colos/products and at 50% is max profits.
Products max at 1/2 colos so: If the O holds 200,000 colos per product, it takes 100,000 colos to make max products then as its overloaded the products go down until they hit 0.
Fighters max at maximum product production. (fighters are per product/unit, not colonist)
So if you hold 600,000 colos on an O, it takes 300,000 to make max figs of 3733.

as you overload the planet, the products drop back to toward 0 until you reach max colos and products stop producing. At this time, fighters are no longer produced either because no products are being produced.

Here are the exact numbers of max fighters per planet:
Class L - Mountainous - 1,250/day
Class M - Earth - 829/day
Class K - Desert - 682/day
Class 0 - Oceanic - 3,733/day
Class C - Glacial - 64/day
Class H - Volcanic - 1,002/day
Class U - Vaporous/Gaseous - 0/day
You can actually squeeze more figs out per day by completely maxing out the colonists on the planets, but you will not produce any ore, organics, or equipment if you overload each production in colonists.


Icehawk’s Input:

Class L (Mountainous) planets have the best fighter production rate, but the 20 million colonist maximum for each product area limits fighter production to just over 1,200 a day (doing the math off the top of my head) while a Oceanic with maximum population can produce 3,700 some when loaded with 100,000 colonists in each product area (first 3,333/day are from organics alone). So 100,000 colonists on a organic will make 3,333 fighters/day, 20 million colonists in fuel ore on a Mountainous will make 800 some fighters a day. 80 million colonists spread over 4 Mountainous planets will make 3,200 fighters, real close to a single Oceanic, using 20 million less colonists. The only downside to this is you're taking up very valuable room in the sector that would better be spent on Volcanics. I'd rather spend the turns moving the extra 20 million people that leave a sector virtually undefended because its full of Mountainous planets.


Speedy’s Input:

For me and 5 planets a sector
SBB port if I can get it!
H: For ore
H: for even more ore
O: For organics and figs
L: For a citadel and the fastest Q cannon to protect the rest of my stuff till my H's get guns.
M: For the equipment production
The O is great for 2 reasons. It makes a good amount of figs, and even better, I can sell of the Organics and buy even more figs!
So that by itself makes it more valuable than the L for fig production, to me anyways
At 15k colos on the M, it's the cheapest way to make equip w/out ever having to leave your sector. Than again I’m cheap, and why should I buy Equip when I can make it?
The 200k colos on the O in ore and equipment can be better used elsewhere. the 100k colos in ore are better used on 2 Volcs. The 100k colos in equip are better used in another O.
3733 figs is nice but your also wasting 200k colos. the 2 volcs I mentioned are making 1k figs each a day, which just beat the maxed O by 1500 figs. Add in the other O and you're beating the 300k colo O by 4900 figs and you get that much more cash too
