I just had some suggestions here for the next version of TW2002:
1) Allow Sysops to set the experience needed to buy a ship for ALL ships and not just commissioned ones.
2) Allow Sysops to set a ship to be Evil Only, this would work much like the Good Only commissioned ships. These evil ships would be included in a new evil shipyard which can only be accessed through the Underground, or if you don't want to go through that trouble just put them on the normal yards.
3) Allow the name of the controlling organization to be changed, IE the Federation changed to Star Command, which would then change all the names of the federation sectors and such. Along these same lines allow the names and ship types of the NPC admirals(Zyrain, Clausewitz, Nelson) and such to be changed as well as perhaps the ability to add more.
4) I don't know if its possible but I would like to see the ability to add more than 1 starport and more than 3 Class 0 ports. You could make it so that instead of automatically being part of the main federation routes have a flag on the port which sets it to be in the travel path of all that is cleared at extern on any port. (like a sysop sets a flag that says that this class 3 port is on the trading route which makes all things along those paths be cleaned up, as well as being able to set the starport to that as well)
5) The option to activate an inn type thing at the starport. To keep people from just sitting in there all the time while logged out have the option for players to steal from them while they are there (if they have sufficient negative alignment) which would work much like port robbing, or have the chance (settable by Sys) that the Kal Durak and the rest of the underground will *ahem* "barrow" money from you while you're logged out. The chance (either way) should increase the longer they stay there. Could have the npc theft be an equation much like that of those used to determine spawning stats for aliens, and of course the longer they sit there the higher the chance that a pc would come along and take what they could.
I have some more suggestions but I know that they would be WAY to far out there to get done. But I'll just give ya one of them.
1) Moons. You can use a genesis torpedo to create a moon around an already established planet with a level 5 or so citadel, perhaps 6 because the interdictor could be holding it in place hehe. Then you would have to ferry a TON goods and colonists up to the moon and build a citadel, which would take some time, we will call this a level 7 citadel for now. This level 7 citadel would have some extra stuff that the citadel on the planet doesn't, including a shipyard. Also it could have an advanced combat computer or something like that that would give the moons fighters a greater offensive and defensive odds against planetary attackers. Perhaps have several levels of citadels. 7th being advanced combat computer, 8th being defensive grid (Perhaps guns that require or don't require fuel to use, basically factored into the damage done and damage recieved), 9th could be some sort of sensors array which one could upgrade like a transporter and then one could scan sectors beyond their own sectors or adjacent sectors, make it so they can't see everything so that if the scanner hits fighters they jam it immediatly. 10th level could be the shipyard. When the shipyard is first built you only get the scout marauder and the merchant cruiser, possibly even the ability to build the escape pod. Then one could buy plans for the other ships for a "small" nominal fee (hehehe)and put them in their shipyards. Perhaps make even higher level citadels whith upgrades to the shipyards, so that only the really powerful ships could be built at level 12 cits while at level 10 you can only build some of the basic ships. Ships would cost a certain amount of equipment and fuel ore as well as organics (hey, the builders have to eat don't they?) and creds (Don't want the local Ship Builders 401 to go on strike) Though not nearly as much creds as it would cost to buy the ship. In fact the price of the ship should be significantly lower than at the normal shipyards. Could possibly even build fighters, shields and holds at a shipyard as well, for some equipment or ore.
