Ok, I've created a wiki area for the use of anyone in this community who wants to build a documentation wiki. I personally will not be able to participate in this, so it's up to you.

I'd like to see at least two areas, one for TW gameplay docs and one for TWGS docs. Within these two main areas, I'm sure there are many sub-areas that could be built.

The site is docs.classictw.com. Anyone who is interested can create an account on the wiki and start to contribute. If one or two would like to take more of an admin role there, I will provide elevated privileges. Hopefully, we can keep this open to anyone, but if there are issues, I will limit access to only those granted access by me or the wiki admins.

Each page load pops up a HTTP authentication for folio.classictw.com. Canceling it doesn't seem to have any effect on the wiki, but it's annoying.

Edit: I put a dummy entry in my /etc/hosts to avoid attempting to load anything from that domain. Windows users can do something similar, but I can't tell you how.

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts .... if memory serves me correctly.

Might be \drivers cache\etc\

I've created a crude infobox template for ship type info: http://docs.classictw.com/index.php?tit ... hipInfobox

And category for default ship types: http://docs.classictw.com/index.php?tit ... ault_Ships

The Merchant Cruiser page incorporates both: http://docs.classictw.com/index.php?tit ... nt_Cruiser

I want to add a pic to the infobox template, but I don't know the best way to go about that.

Hmmm, I haven't seen that. I copied this from another wiki at that domain. I guess I'd better dig in and see where that's coming from. Sorry.

Ok, turns out the site logo image was still at the other domain, which is password protected. I changed it to point to the proper directory. Does that fix it?

Looks like you figured out the template question.

You know, there's an old html doc I created that has all of the ship stats. It might be something that could be used as a resource here. I'll see if I can dig that up. I've been meaning to put that into the museum anyway.

Other than a couple contributions by Crosby, I seem to be the only person working on this. :(

I'm planning to finish the pages for the default ships, then make a category for helpers.

JP, I know you don't officially publish formulas. How do you feel about the wiki including formulas that have been discovered and made public by players?

From what I've seen, today's helpers/scripts read the * menu and adjust your rob/steal formulas accordingly. Players don't even have to upgrade ports before they steal, the scripts do this for them. I would think that some of the basic forumulas need to be on the Wiki. I'm thinking Rob/Steal and cannon settings would be necessary.

I want to do a little more, just trying to figure out
how to 'wiki' a little bit...

Sorry if I'm leaving you hanging Mongoose. Thanks
for your work! Please let me know if there is
something specific you want to not do, and I'll work
on that.

I'm fine with whatever you guys want to put in there. I haven't given any insider info on forumlas to anyone who's asked because I don't want to give anyone an unfair advantage. And from what I've seen, a lot of formulas are close, but not perfect (some are probably exact). So I don't want to provide the actual formulas, or even say whether or not something is right. It's good to have that element of uncertaintly ;)

Even if nobody was working on the docs wiki right now, it wouldn't bother me. Interest in this kind of thing really comes and goes. I'm grateful that anyone is giving their time to it. Every little bit helps, and over time, it'll add up. Thanks Mongoose and Crosby!

Most of what you are looking for is on the TW-Cabal site. The site is a little out of date, but a lot of it is very good. Traitor did an excellent job.

Thank you, and yes. That was one of the first sites I read and have sent many players there as well. I even have to refer back to my own site from time to time. ;)

I don't think we should plagerize Cabal, is Traitor still around? We could ask his permission to repost on the Wiki with minor updates.

Way ahead of you guys! I already PMed Traitor, and he said it was okay to copy from the Cabal site as long as we credit the original authors.

Each night for the past four nights, shortly after midnight server time, a user was created with a Russian-sounding name following an obvious naming pattern. Might want to delete them before they launch some kind of spam blitz.
