As a Trader who owns private property separate
from a corporation that I belong too I buy multiple
ships and store in the sector my private planet
is in.
Problem:
I can only store a single manned ship on a planet!
The one I am in.
Solution:
Allow for landing on a planet and entering the Citadel.
Beam to a ship floating in the same sector and then land
that ship and enter the Citadel.

This has been brought of multiple times before. And afaik JP has stated that he would never empliment this. Now, he may decide to add this in the a version of TW2002 beyond v4.

Why?
He does it to :
1) piss his corpies off
2) to prove he is not a team player
3) hide HIS assets from the corp
4) to force me to blow up or cap his ships/planet(s)

I am just using a real world analogy. CEOs of America
Corporations do not allow all employees access to sensitive
files. With you in charge of EIS Online we can access
any file on the web server?

a) as far as i know vid isnt in charge of EIS.. im pretty sure thats still JP.
b)this is a game, not a business, SO should not your analogy go something like this:
"i am the captain of the baseball team, but when i should bunt to help the team win, i am instead going to swing and go for personal glory."
but, with your post i think probably.. oh i dunno, 99% of all twars players will now no longer ever corp with you so i guess you have that.. um.. going for you..

hmm...okay Slim. My thought is that it might be useful in case anyone in the corp is suspect for doing things like taking all corp assets personal and then leaving corp as has happened in a couple games. That at least leaves a player the chance of striking back and reclaiming corp assets. It has happened several times in my reads of various threads both here and elsewhere. Trusted long term corpies can have knowledge of fallback sector if needed and newbies (esp if they been mentioned as being flaky) don't need the info.

While I can see what FC is saying, my opinion in general is pretty simple. I corp with about anybody. But I also in general, give them one chance. If they were to pull this kind of crap, I would post here and on twgs.org, and let everybody know that so-and-so took corp assests and dropped corp, and warn against playing with them. I don't think it should be an issue you HAVE to protect against.
To pcunite: I think I posted this in your other thread, play on servers with reputable players, and you should have less of an issue.

I want to say that I appreciate this good discussion we are having.
I am so surprised that I am being suggested to "Trust".
The reason I don't want to trust is that I want to have
a corp of newbie's or unknown players. I don't have
the time or interest to form 20 friendships with
online people next year!

get into some big games or play at some of the more popular servers and you will make atleast "20 friendships with online people". (assuming you trust them, and dont pull crap like hiding assets, heh)

pcunite,
I have corped with complete newbies before, or complete no names over time, and I have not had issues. As I said, if I did, I would post, let everybody know, and than it is likely those people who have a hard time finding corpies, if it was known. I'm not sure were you play (as I haven't seen you before). Below is a list of servers to play at, that you may find people who you can assume are legit.
Black Sun
Alienbase
TLTT
I really only play those, so I can't suggest others (I am not implying anything by NOT listing a site here).
I would suggest trying that, and seeing if you see a different game. In general, I will corp with about anybody, at least once unless I have good reason not too, from a recommendation by someone I trust. The only thing I as a corpie ask if for people to either A.) know what they are doing, and how to play or B.) be willing to learn.

Forgetting everything he said before his solution and only using his solution
Quote
"Solution:

If you had multiple ships you could store in a citedel you wouldn't have to worry about leaving them floating in your base, it'de be much harder to take a planet with 75k figs and 4 ships on it than those 75k figs dispersed between the ships (depending on edits.) Anyway it'de act as a lockup for your ships, kinda like parking your car in your garage then taking another to work.
Now what everyone is saying about shady people, not everyone is, some are just stupid, ignorant, and otherwise not willing to function in the tradewars community. To truley get an advantage with a corp would be to have relationships with the people, able to keep in contact with them, e-mail, icq, ect. Otherwise your just individuals playing as a group of individuals.

* Personally *
1) I think ships are cheap, most depending on edits, and if someone is Ptorping and killing you ships you have bigger issues than your ships floating in your neutralized air space. (Like buying pshields).
Why anyone would leave figs on ships to "protect" them I wouldn't know. I could see "stocking" them for ease of xport in online s2s battle or for hiding figs. I don't suggest staying on your planet too much anyway. Cloaked in a galaxy far far away is kinda neat. (Until I find me an anomily finding script :p)
2) Shame on your for playing two sides of the stick. I had someone rob my Butt straight blind... I mean straight blind (Even captured my pod).. back in 1995. The guys I was playing with (Iwould do the same), give me a couple of planets and cash and we proceeded to make life rough on that f****r. Give people a chance. I ween new ppl that I corp with. Start with the "can i trust you" fed comm then leave one or two corp planets w/a bunch of cash.. cash is the lure. If it works out and they leave their cash on the planet too. Its golden. Bring your personal assets into corp and playon (shouldn't take more than a day or two. Most corpies would be inspired by u trusting them and having all kinds of cool stuff they didn't have before.
3) Report that person to the gameop. He can get IP and info and inform the rest of the tw community. I wouldn't tolerate it and I can't think of many op's that would either.
Good luck in your issues and I hope this doesn't come across wrong.

I'm gonna tone this down since this isn't the smack talk forum, but frankly I can't believe how ignorant you are, MB. Its a VERY simple concept that Vid Kid and Slim stick to, regardless of any personal faults they may or may not have. Its so basic that it shouldnt even need to be explained to you, but apparently is does. TEAMWORK. TW is a team game. Except for designated solo games, its about a group of people working together to achieve a common goal - victory. If you trust your corpies so little that you keep back personal planets, you should not be corping with them in the first place, period. A player not fully devoting themselves to the corp is more hindrance than help. There are a huge number of practical problems with one player keeping personal assets away from the corp. So many in fact, that I'm not going to bother listing them since you probably wouldn't read it anyways. Stop and think about all the potential problems it could cause before firing off any more angry, infantile rants on posts that have been dead for 4 months. Grow up.
