Last I heard that was a woman's magazine, LOL... Maybe call MS XP support at: 1-800-MICROSOFT (1-800-642-7676)

You can also check out their help center:

http://support.microsoft.com/search/def ... m+98+to+XP

I did a search on Redbook and only thing that comes up is an error with the CD-ROM and something to do w/ audio and a driver called: 'Redbook.sys'.

You know if you already have XP installed you might just need to download all the Windows update packs, maybe his install CD is out of date and causing errors, (their update link is below.)

ROFL

Call Microsoft for tech support!

ROFL

Yea, like that will get anything fixed. First they will charge you $15 a min. then tell you that the problem is either hardware related or there’s a 3rd party driver that you need to update.

Don't waste your money and take it to someone who can fix it.

More then likely you just need to find out what piece of hardware in the system needs to have drivers installed for it go to the manufactures website D/L the driver and install it.

Ok LetsEatCrow.

The name is Speed and don’t you forget it. :P

Just suggesting to call MS support shows you have no business even trying to help peeps fix computer problems. You should really stick to subjects you know something about.

I had a sales rep call MS one time for tech. After a 1/2-hour of troubleshooting with him on the phone they told him to reinstall the driver files for the modem in his computer. He didn’t and brought it to me the next day asking for help all I had to do was go in to dialing property’s and change some simple setting all fixed took 5 min’s of time and was free for him. MS tech I believe cost him $30 for a wrong answer plus a whole night sitting on hold.

You gotta love it.

Only time you catch me calling tech support for something is when I need a RMA. Most of the 1st level peeps you get in tech support don’t even know what they’re trying to fix and refuse to listen to you.

Google is your friend MS tech support is not.

Calling ANY tech support tends to be a bad idea...That's why I have computer nerds for friends like turbo, err I mean Speed Demon :)
