Why that was mature.
I reread the thread I saw nothing berating anyone but your post. Hold on let me read it again.....
Yep, only your post.
You know parking ships on a planet would be a nice change but it's not going to happen because JP said so. And hiding assets from your corpies kinda goes against the spirit of the game.

I don't know about hiding assets, but it does make it easy to transport an entire base.

I want to say that I appreciate this good discussion we are having.
I am so surprised that I am being suggested to "Trust".
The reason I don't want to trust is that I want to have
a corp of newbie's or unknown players. I don't have
the time or interest to form 20 friendships with
online people next year!
I have played tradewars for 12 years now off and on [usually more on accept lately]. I corp with just about anyone even though i have those i prefer. I would never do what your stating above and lemme give a few reasons.
1) How do you teach your corpies how to work together cashing/killing/building/pooling assets realisticly if some of them keep disappearing "mysteriously". And on that note what do you say when they ask where those disappearing assets went? lol
2) I agree with what was said before, I give everyone a chance once, if they screw you let it be known and never corp with em again.
3) I'd NEVER be in a corporation where i knew someone was doing that. If you have that much distrust for most of the people you meet even newbs, i suggest playing solo for awhile longer.
And lastly i'm not meaning to pick on you, but as i said i've played for 12 years and have corped with 100's of people, and really can only recall a maximum of 5 times I was truly backstabbed. Have a little faith
[[[ side note, to those of you that haven't heard from me in awhile i'm kinda back in a way. I'll be reading/posting msgs in the forums. Got a new job, new place, doing pretty good. Those that know my email address drop me a line there or here. ]] [this has been a shamefule personal plug about me!]

Coke, Master Blaster posted a rant that was way overboard even for him. Harley saw fit to remove the offending post.

I'm gonna tone this down since this isn't the smack talk forum, but frankly I can't believe how ignorant you are, MB. Its a VERY simple concept that Vid Kid and Slim stick to, regardless of any personal faults they may or may not have. Its so basic that it shouldnt even need to be explained to you, but apparently is does. TEAMWORK. TW is a team game. Except for designated solo games, its about a group of people working together to achieve a common goal - victory. If you trust your corpies so little that you keep back personal planets, you should not be corping with them in the first place, period. A player not fully devoting themselves to the corp is more hindrance than help. There are a huge number of practical problems with one player keeping personal assets away from the corp. So many in fact, that I'm not going to bother listing them since you probably wouldn't read it anyways. Stop and think about all the potential problems it could cause before firing off any more angry, infantile rants on posts that have been dead for 4 months. Grow up.
Psion,
In general, I agree with you on this but in some of the corps I played with and some that I was CEO of we encouraged the use of maintaining a seperate home sector, the reason for this was to give the corp some fall back ground in case the corp got taken, then we could fall back to our private stockpile and turn it into corp property and keep going. But this style of game play is rare, and only done at the agreement of all involved in the corp. But on most parts and for most game play I agree with you, if there is no prior agreement of all to maintain a private sector for corp back up then the player maintaining a private sector is going against the corps interests. And therefore a hinderance to the corp as a whole.
Just my .02 worth

I'll bite. Why wouldn't you have a corp backup site?

Jher,
I don't get it either. If you are gonna spend time and turns investing in a backup site, why not make it corp too? that way, if the only backup base left is yours, and you happen to be #SD#, your corpies aren't screwed.
I just don't get the whole paranoia about backstabbing corpies. I mean, that was a problem in the 80's and early 90's. But I swear, since I took up the "Traitor" handle in about '97, it hasn't been a problem for me. Not once. Maybe i've been lucky. Maybe the new players I've played with were too busy watching me to worry about stabbing me in the back. [:D]

I agree , whats the use of a backup if it isnt corp?
As to backstabbing, saw it happen once on Eclipse, years ago. The entire board declared a common truce and wiped out the offender. Never happened again.

Report that person to the gameop. He can get IP and info and inform the rest of the tw community. I wouldn't tolerate it and I can't think of many op's that would either.
Good luck in your issues and I hope this doesn't come across wrong.

I personally think posting someones IP address is wrong dude, no matter what they did and I would not do such a thing to anyone. But I would post his player name/ log on name and any aliases that I know of. But the IP address should be kept private by sysops.
Thats my nickle!
