Has anyone done it yet? I have a guy on the Facebook page asking how to set it up. I'm avoiding Win 10 until July, and then will probably run a Win 7 VM. I've only messed with it a little on clients machines, still don't like it yet. |

I'm that guy. I know I'm going to sound like an idiot, but I want to start with the very basics. I have TWGS running as a service. Is this also supposed to be the console, or is there a separate TWCC module that maybe I'm missing? I'm at a loss figuring how to find anything I can launch that allows me to set up a game. Thanks for any input. HF |

on your desktop right click the icon for TWGS click on open file location. right click twgs.exe click on properties. click the Compatibility tab. then click the run this program as an Administrator. then click either OK or Apply. when running as a service you will not be able to access the GUI. so make sure your settings are correct before running as a service. one way i keep tabs on my TWGS when running as a service i use a shortcut on my Desktop to TWGS.LOG in the same directory as the twgs.exe file. to do this you right click on TWGS.LOG when your in that directory then click on "send to" then "Desktop (create short cut)" if you need to change things with TWGS while it is running you have to use a Telnet client to connect to your loopback address (127.0.0.1) on the administrator port that you set TWGS to before you set it to run as a service. usually port 2003. if you have any other questions i try to answer them. but if i cannot the rest of the community might beable to help. |

What is the benefit of running TWGS as a service versus running it minimized on the taskbar? Is this beneficial only if you have different Window's user accounts? ...You can setup TWGS to startup and go online with Windows after rebooting right? |

Thanks for any input. HF If you are running TWGS as a service, the admin console doesn't work. This is due to a "security" feature that services aren't allowed to interact with the desktop in any version of Windows newer than XP. If you are not running as a service, then you can open the admin console from the notification area. If you really want to run as a service, then you can manage the server by telnet to the admin port, but you have to setup the admin password first. |

I've tried all of the above, and it's still crashing every few minutes. |

It's the Win10 upgrade. Discovered more behaviors, when it "crashes" it disconnects from Swath and the server... but there's still an instance of TWXProxy running when I look at the task manager. The taskbar icon goes away when it crashes but it never fully closes. Without knowing it, I had two instances of TWXProxy running. Closed both in the task manager and started just one instance, and again in about 10 min. it crashed. |

Closed both in the task manager and started just one instance, and again in about 10 min. it crashed. what i meant was was it an installation of TWGS from a different OS. or have you tried to install a fresh copy of TWGS. my guess is that TWGS is looking for files that it cannot find. or REG entries that might of gotten purged in the upgrade. a re-installation of TWGS might help. but first you might need to clear the old installation first. as the Registry is a little different compared to windows 7. aswell Task manager works a little differently in WINDOWS 10. how long ago did you make the upgrade? do you have the 1607 upgrade? |
