I can understand why some of these returning "has-beens" wouldn't mind a situation where there's a 50/50 chance that either them or thier opponent would be booted to the main menu. That's much better odds than the 100% chance they'd have of being ship destroyed. LAFF

Not mentioning any names, but Cruncher, Timberwolf, & Mongoose come to mind.

I know one thing they all have in common, non of them were actually any good, they just happened to corped with other decent player and rode the gravy train for all it was worth!!!

You have to take into consideration that the competition back then wasn't anything like the competition now. Hellcat was thier hero back then and was suppose to be the big, bad, killer. What Hellcat had was a fast connection and a few macros set up on hot keys. He took the entire corps cash and wasted it killing a few players at the start of the tournies. If Hellcat was playing today in his best form he'd probably have a tough time making it to the dock without ending up in a pod.

And yet you've never beaten Ground Zero. What's that say for you?

You obviously never corped with Hellcat. I discovered his talent when he was a solo player. As a corp mate he was very frugal with corp assets, coming from a solo background, he knew how to spend wisely.

And yes, he was on a T-3 connection, and had macros set to hot keys. But, he also had a keen sense when it came to hunting.

It is today, as it was back in the day. The player with the fastest ping is the hunter/killer.

And no, we never played this game by the ms. This game was continually evolving with frequent updates. You all had a static game for 7-8 years to examine and develop trigger scripts etc...

It would be... if it actually happened to most people.

It only happens to players that actually try to eliminate the competition and win. You probably wouldn't experience it sitting in a bubble running a colonizer script.

It only happens to players trying to use scripts to kill one another. LOL

That's what I said. It only happens to players that want to play Tradewars and not Tradehugs.

That's not you playing, that's your program/script playing. I've run attack scripts, very effective... and very boring. Just like running a team SDT is very effective, but very boring as well.

I have my theories as to why these are so popular. You can get drunk, or otherwise and still play the game, because it's not you hitting the keys, it's your trigger scripts, dropping planets, launching photons, running a citkill.

I will say one thing however, it does take a lot of concentration to run M0mbot and bot a team mate. I haven't killed anyone yet! LOL But I have been caught in "friendly-fire".

Bottom line, I've seem many more screw-ups with scripts than I've manually fused my ship.

ROFL, thank god your theories doesnt mean chit then huh!! As far as your TW skill level, well lets just say Toyman can atest to that!!! After watching your corp play during the last tournament, and seeing whom you normal corp with, its safe to say those screw-up, operator error was to blame!!!

Cruncher is the only person that I know of that would swear up and down that a major bug is an intended feature, and that 1:1 combat using a script is bug usage. Only a noob could even contemplate saying something like that. What's even more amazing is that there are several other players that are actually backing her up even though they know she is way off base simply by reading her posts.
If JP would have came in here on day one and told everyone the truth, and that he was going to screw up v2 as bad as he has, there would have been a total uprising. That won't happen now however, because almost everyone has left this forum mainly because of Cruncher's contant whining about how she can't win a game, how she can't use a script, and how the game needs to be changed so she can compete.

I heard they were awesome. Under the current CEO their winning tourneys. Setting up practice games to hone their skills, script repositories, engaging and getting core members involved in all facet's of the corp. All while supporting Version 2.

Helix is a boss, Amirite?.
