I know Vid and a few other's have special server side scripts that allow players to see the gold edits of ships and planets.
Sometimes a sysop will make a seemingly undesirable planet have a much higher citadel interest rate, or have a higher production of fighters.
What you can do with Gold Edits is nearly limitless. The trick is to create a game that has balance.
