Is it me or did something change ?

I recall that years ago if you were a blue with lot of exp and alignment
you could get mugger a dozen times at star dock and get killed to zero out yourself.

As a red you could guess the underground password wrong about 5 times and get killed and zero out.

Today the only thing that works is the underground.
As a blue you are forced to CBY , but that does not zero you out.

Has this changed or is my memory failing ?

As a Blue if you CBY you goto -10 Alignment and 0 Experience, same as in 1.03 (I just tested it)
Red is get killed at underground.
You can if you are blue and your alignment is under 200 (i think) get mugged and lose 1/2 of your experience.

Yes Toyman , but what about the zero exp and alignment ?
The full thing , maybe check an earlier version.

1.03 you could get mugger and die for typing f or m in star dock prompt a dozen times.
But not in todays twgs.
Please test this and get back to this post with results.

Its been that way as far back as I remember. Reds can get murdered at the underground and get their XP/Alignment = 0/0. Blues CBY and get XP/Alignment = 0/-10

Seems like I remember you could do that too. I was sure I remember getting killed at stardock a number of times and going to 0/0. Of course, my memory HAS slipped so no one can base anything off of what I remember

Yes , that is what I was thinking too .. I recall doing it as a blue .. I just need someone to test different versions to figure out when the change was made.
I'm sure it can be done in 1.03 , I'll go into a game on the UTW server and do just that .. and report confirmation of it here , one way or the other.

Ok , @ UTW v 1.03 , as a blue I could get mugged , typing DFM repeatedly
but never got killed.

So that must have been before that version , and I guess is moot now.

Thanks guys ...

Is it moot Vid, or something we should consider a bug? To me, the killed at Stardock thing seemed to be an easy way to zero out your alignment & experience for a blue, just like the killed giving the wrong password to the underground seems like an easy low cost way for a red to zero out align & exp.

So, is it really fair for the reds to still be able to zero out their align & exp but blues take a -10 align hit? Don't want it to sound like nitpicking but you know that old saying about good for the goose and the gander

I don't think it would be fair to leave it that way, wonder what everyone else thinks

I think that's up to the author to decide.

Is the behavior intentional or a bug? If it's a bug, CAN it be fixed? SHOULD it be fixed?

This is what I love about this game. No matter how long we play, there are still little nuances like this that show up from time to time.

IMHO, I don't think JP tells us every last little thing he does in the development notes. This keeps this old game fresh for old players to discover little changes.

If you want to see just how far this game has come, go play the old HVS MBBS version for a little while. At first it really feels comfortable, like a homecoming, then you realize just how old that game is and appreciate the advancements JP has made in TWGS.
