I was just wondering if anyone has a list of ever character not in use by SWATH, TWX Proxy or Tradewars itself?

If I remember correctly the "." character isn't in use when at the command prompt, and TAB key, and a couple of others.

Of course you could do it by bringing up a couple of things like hitting Z to bring up instructions and then and Enter for No, but I consider that less-than-optimal.

But if there were a few characters you could get away with pressing pretty much anytime, in any prompt or 'routine' of the game, that would be better. Then you could use different ones to trip different triggers. I am mostly thinking how you could use this to start and stop multiple scripts you might be running, with different 'trigger characters' for starting and stopping each individual script.

Not sure if this helps. You can use Ctrl-n or Alt-n key combos to trigger Scripts or Events in SWATH.
