In honor of our beloved Space Ghost, I’ve opened a file library and dedicated it to him. I’ve been slowly working on this project for months but his death as given me the motivation to just finish it so I could honor him with it.

Tom ‘Woody’ Pocky, aka Space Ghost, was a good friend of mine. I can’t even begin to count the number of games we played together, against each other, editing together, ran together, etc. He helped me run this website. He took over the main admin duties at classictw.com. His loss is immeasurable. It hurts.

We have lost a legend. He never left the game he loved, like so many of us (including myself) have. He carried the torch while JP took a long hiatus. Tom belongs on the very short list of the most influential people in Trade Wars history. There is probably a ton of influence he had with JP directly that we don’t even know about.

SG, you will be missed. A lot.

As a special bonus – in the Audio section of the File Library you will find an almost 2 hour interview Tom had conducted with Soul of Silverwings. I’ve been saving these recordings for over a decade. I will release a few more of these types of interviews over time but for right now, the only one being released is Tom’s. They talk about many topics and people of the day and you see how much bigger TradeWars was at the time. It’s a good listen and it’s good to hear his voice one more time.

This is fantastic to hear Eleq. I know Tom would be very proud.

This is awesome, Eleq. And I completely agree with you sentiments about SG.

I'm trying to gather as much as I can into an area at the TW museum for SG. Anything you have that you'd allow me to place into that museum would be greatly appreciated. So far I have his poems, posts from people from the community saying their goodbyes, and the images of his Space Cruiser (I'm compiling this stuff on his discussion page at http://wiki.classictw.com/index.php?tit ... pace_Ghost).

Thanks Augi! I remember those interviews, how we'd all get fired up over what was being said.

After that SG put up his own radio station for a while.

Thank you for saving this. I look forward to re-listening again.

***********************

I remember the night that was recorded. Shortly after the Vegas trip. SG was one class act, the ghost you hated to play but you had to respect the man for his passion and dedication to the game, and this forum as well. I'll never forget his "giggle" when he told me he was Admin here. "Can you beleive it? They went and made ME Admin!" he said.

If you've never had the pleasure of speaking with SG, listening to this will help give you an idea of the type of energy and giving spirt he had. As a player I could smack him silly for scritping and killing newbies like he did. I'd forgotten how big the big games really were. He was promoting the USOpen, 17 teams of 6. Oh man those were fun games! I don't beleive I ever played a USO because of the timing - tax season.

Again, thank you Augi.

I'm going to suggest that we open a memorial message section for those who like Space Ghost and Lisa who have passed on, where we can share our memories of them.

Agreed, I actually want to try to transfer the Boo Inc domain and restart the page with a memorial...unfortunately I need to get a hold of his wife first.

I loved the cartoon Space Ghost, and as a kid playing this game with him. Always thought of him as the cartoon character lol. I will miss playing Trade Wars with Space Ghost forever. I left the game years ago before the tournaments even started happening :( I remember playing with Space Ghost, and underpants. Using TWTerm a program I got from JP that was like SWATH, but only had dialup capability. Mostly manual play back then other then being able to send bursts.. It's what made Trade Wars so great was our imaginations! Not graphics, and mashing buttons we made friends all over the world, and even pictured them as heroes by what they picked for usernames. This game reminds me of the new movie out Ready Player One, but John Pritchett is John Halliday :) Nothing, but love from Zeus to you Space Ghost will miss you old friend :(
