Yes, most of this could be done with server side scripting, but wouldn't it be nice to be able to set an option like this?

T) Truce Game
=== submenu questions
Do you want to make this a truce game? (Y) = Yes (N) = No
How many days should the truce last?

Maybe on the (G) screen around the tournament mode option.

All of those ideas try to bias the game towards builders. You might want to rethink the balance of these things.

Different edits seek to achieve different balances. While many of the ideas discussed I would not think about using in an unregulated kill'em all game, some of them would be an interesting addition to a long term building game.

I agree with you Big D , it would be nice to have those options in Tedit .. probly under tourney mode options.

But from what I understand JP wont make changes that can be scripted by a sysop.
I guess its my bad that I was able to make some of these options in script.
Darn twx .. lol

And V'Gar , if you are looking to make long term building games ... try a 750 turn 4 hrs/day setting.
Most of those types of games would last for months if not years.
And to further keep things going , maybe make player delete setting to max (255) days.

But having many players in it .. well I can't guarantee many players wanting that.
In the Dos days , our games lasted about a year with those setting.

Just a thought.

Building game I just ended was double that (1500 turn, 8 hour), but with a 30 day delete. At one point the CLV was up to 170ish, at the end, it still had about 80 people in it.

I am pondering a solo game, 250 turns per day, 1 hour log in. For those people that just don't have the time to play regularly.
Not sure what kind of edit would be best for that though...

True, but as Vid said, we can already setup this type of game. In my case all it requires is $ssProtruce* and the game is setup. The end truce is ran the same way with a date and time setting for truce end. I don't like the days settng because most people with real lives don't want to be up at midnight on a work/school week for a game, so I use a time of day instead. I realize we have 2nd & 3rd shift workers who won't be online, but it is impossible to get a time when everyone will be at keys.

The way I setup a game is to run proTruce.ts and then tEditGameOpen.ts and it would be a simple matter to combine the scripts so I fire up one and walk away. A simple mod to proTruce.ts would close the game to new players at truce end.

send $gameLetter
send "h"
waitfor "General Editor Two"
send "["
waitfor "Should this be a"
send "yqq"
