I have set up a planet edit (Gas Giant), with a high colonist death rate (zero habitability, 255 hazard rating), to use as a dumping ground for excess colonists from other planets. My question is, when do the colonists actually get killed off? At random intervals? At Extern? The game is v3.11.55
I remember playing the older dial-up-BBS versions of TW2002 back in the early 90's when it was really hard to colonize a Volcanic, as the colos would get killed off almost as fast as you could move them in, like every time you landed a CT, you might lose almost as many, if not MORE, colos than you were bringing in. Anyway, in this game I am setting up, the Gas Giant does not seem to be killing off colos at any kind of predictable rate, and it's certainly not killng them off with every other ship landing like the old version did.

Much simpler to just jet the colos. If align loss is an issue, jet one colo for a minus 1 align penalty, then jet the rest. Would cost one more turn than what you contemplate, but would be immediate. Faster way would be to ZDY the planet in a merf, if you have a pod to spare.
