Ok. Copying, in a way, what Runaway Proton did in 2012, I would like to announce my inaugural Fire Tournament. I have edited the "Hell on Earth" TWA and attached it here.

The tournament will commence on 1 May 2020 at 9:00om EST, and will last 30 days. The winning corp at the conclusion of the thirty days will be determined by the corp with the most deaths left.

There will be no megacorping in this tournament. If I feel there has been megacorping I will delete all accounts who I feel have contributed. This is at my sole discretion.

There will also be no duplicate accounts. If any account is deemed to be duplicate that account, plus the account I feel created the duplicate will both be deleted.

Maximum bank credits will be increased from the original edit. Max bank credits will be 100 Million.

Players must sign up by 17 April 2020 to be eligible to play.

Although I'm not going to enforce it, I would appreciate if players played under their usual alias'.

20,000 sectors
5,000 turns
Corp size 6
10 death maximum (this includes pods and deaths)

There will be a death delay. The posted TWA is the one being used for practice

Practice game is open on slot Y.

Tournament will take place at the following:

Telnet: Fire.tradewars-league.com
Port: 2002
Game A

Would like to confirm which TWGS will be set on Fire? ...I’d suggest v2, but I would be misunderstood as to wanting to ‘play’ on v2, as opposed to actually setting it on fire. So, can we play on V1, and actually set v2 on Fire?

Well, it seems a bit early to be discussing this when 75% of the player base is currently playing the current tournament and can't waste time on this yet.

However, given the game is a V2 game, everyone has v2 servers, and I can't a buy a v1 license and the host has a v2 server. I think v2 is the logical choice.

If connection issues are the only issue we have it's easily solved.

Many of us prefer to keep tournaments on a TWGS we are familiar with. Not going back to v1 for mainly reasons that people hold a grudge. I wasn't here for any of that but I've played some great and some varied tournaments on v2. Can't see why'd we go backwards to v1.

Pretty sure it rules us out of the tournament given I cant' even practice properly on a private v1.

You’re not getting out of it that easily. I have no objection to playing on v2 and in fact prefer it.

Thank you for the laugh there. You almost made me spit my drink all over the screen.

If you’re putting more than 30 minutes of energy a day into this farce of a tourney, you’re either toying with what’s left of the other corps or you’re nowhere near as good as anyone gives you credit for. We all see the logs. It’s a pastime now and you’re just dragging it out to make it appear legit. Nobody else has gotten even close to established.

Just to put everyone’s mind at ease, Tournament will be on V2. It also looks like I will be getting my old server host back, which means the tournament will be hosted on a dedicated T1 line. I don’t know if everyone remembers my old server, but it was incredible fast and reliable. I’m hoping to have it up and running by tomorrow night. At which time I will open a test game.

I'm pretty sure your old host is on dedicated fiber. I "looked" at it before.

I think you’re right. This is the reason why I can’t write scripts. I don’t even know the difference in my internet types.

A T1 is 24 channels 64K each, which can be used as 23 phone lines or 1.5Mbps per second internet, which was fast 20 years ago. Cable modems can reach speeds up to 300Mbps, and fiber can do up to 10Gbps.

So, yeah, it’s the latter.

Fun fact. A T1 is still available as an option, but they are heavily taxed and regulated, so they cost a lot more for slower speeds.
