Since the Fed comms , sub-space , and private messages comes through directly in the Telnet screens : I propose that the corp messages also comes over in direct communications. If the players are online , or to the mail server like the private hailes do. So if a corp message was sent : the corp would see : Received from Players Name at 08:48:34 AM S.D. 12/03/23: C Need help fast being mothed by 3 ships almost out of fighters. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- F luke hello <-- this is the way it looks now. R luke hello <-- this is the way it looks now. P luke hello <-- this is the way it looks now. C luke hello <-- this is the way it should look. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any other comments on this ? |

Just to clarify.... are you asking that Corp Messages be sent to both Mail & Message? Or are you proposing adding a new Corp Message item in place of the current Corp Memo? I like either and it would resolve the SS not being secure issue. |

It may take a little thinking , but basicly like a private hail , where if the corpie were not online it would go to the mail , otherwise it would go out in game. Or maybe just for in game , so that the old system way would still be in place. So that the server does not have to check who is online. Just a double send ... in game and the way it has always has been. |

Wouldn't this basically end up being a private channel for Corp comms? |

having a corp channel sounds good to me.. would stop a few arguments about sub space crawling.. |

Corp messaging has always been a problem for me.... would MUCH prefer it to be presented as shown! It would also give an added layer of security that has caused my corp, corpies and myself grief a couple times now... |

isn't that the whole point of subspace channels? you pick one for your corp communications. sure you can stumble on the channel. its not unlike call of duty where you can use a ease drop perk to listen in on enemy team speak. |

That is right Tweety , and if the Corp communications displayed like the Fed comms or Sub-space or private hails .. we would not need a private sub-space as requested a few months back. So what I am saying is to have it display as fed or sub-space , instead of it being routed to the message system the way it is now , where you are forced to hunt for it amongst the alien hit reports. just my 2ยข |

Sounds like John understands it. It would be a private channel just for corpies and put an end to sub space crawling. Looks like at that point some teams would have to learn how to find their enemies the old fashion way...go look for them! Great idea. |

The general idea of sending these messages over comms is reasonable, I think. I would just want to avoid turning it into a private channel for Corps. So the messages could be sent over Subspace, but not private hail. Definitely not FedComm ;) I would think that an option to send to Subspace would need to be configurable per-player, because not everyone would want to expose private Corp mail messages to Subspace radio. |

Great , so then instead of going to SS or private messaging or to have to chase them down they can be displayed like normal SS messages. thank you this is great. Definitely not FedComm Why would you want to send a corp message to SS .. you can do that the way things are now .. just send it on SS ... then what would the corp message be for in the first place ... wasn't it intended for private corp communications anyways ? All I'm asking is that it displaces in a way so it just displays and can be seen immediately like the normal comms messages. |

All I'm asking is that it displaces in a way so it just displays and can be seen immediately like the normal comms messages. Was the original intent for SS to be corporate only? I like the idea of having a corporate secure on the fly messaging type system. I would go back to the KISS method, Corp 1 = SS 1, Corp 2 = SS 2 ..... up to a preset number of corps (current default is 50). But I guess it could be made more complicated but keeping it tied to SS would not force any changes to scripts and eliminate SS crawling all together. Keeping it simple is the best method. |

Quote: Keeping it simple is the best method. Sorry to debate this, but why is a new feature needed to secure SubSpace Radio? Why can't the players who feel the need for added security make a corp script that encrypts the messages pre and post SubSpace transmission? |

I guess because this is a feature request, if it is completely shot down then other methods could happen but so far JP has not said "NO" SubSpace tends to lead people to believe it is secure, which most of us know it's not. But if it can be made secure with little to no effort whats the harm? This would not change the game in any way shape or form but increase security of corporate messaging. |
