Is it uncommon to look to hire somebody to write some private scripts? I have some ideas and would be willing to pay someone for their efforts. Not sure if this was something anybody in the community was interested in. Thanks. |

Before you answer any of those private messages, or offer anyone cash (NO OFFENSE to those who have already offered) WHY not post here what your looking for? They might already exist? |

I'll ask because I'm looking for one too. I have zero knowledge of how to make scripts, and I need to level the playing against the robots that I'm playing against. I know the game, I know how to do just about anything manually. Is there a script that does all of the following: 1. Plants an easily configurable number of fighters in each sector. 1a. Overwrites by adding more fighters to a sector already occupied with 1 fighter (peace period's over, now I want 101 in every sector). 2. Plants limpet mines in every sector (preferably adjustable quantities as well). |

Ships in the edit- how many figs they hold. All edits are different so it's good to have a manifest on each ship. 2. How many limpets the ship will hold. Again some may not hold limpets. 3. What to do when you run out... I would suggest you may want the script to refill on the figs and/or limpets if you run out. Or have it set so once a certain amount are left, it will hold the figs and move to the StarDock. Always good to have a few figs to get back to StarDock in case you encounter someone's def figs. |

Are you looking for a script that will simply go to sectors where you already have figs and leave 101 (or whatever you want) figs and xx limps? A regridder of this type would be simple to write. I "think" all of the information necessary to write a script of this type is in the tutorial I posted. The different trigger messages would have to come from in-game. I don't worry about adding figs to a sector after a truce because the enemy usually is in a ship that will have higher offensive odds and I would lose more resources than they would. If you drop 101 and I lose 30 killing them, then your resources dwindle more than mine. Most (big caution tho) truces allow for limpet drops during truce. |

The idea has been done in a number of ways in private scripts. The question I have for you is this: By what method do you want to regrid these sectors? Do you want to twarp there and drop figs? If so, you will obviously be limited to the number of figs on the ship at any time. Would you rather pwarp there? If so, obviously you'll need a lot more ore to handle the pwarp. If you're talking twarp, then use a base sector approach. Twarp out, drop figs and mines and stuff (similar to the way my public ugridder does the limit grid mode) and return to the base sector. If out of stuff, go get more. Repeat for next sector. Have a couple triggers running in the background to catch for saveme hazards and voila, done and done. If you're talking pwarp, then pwarp sector to sector, and when you drop to a certain level of mines then on the next sector you can limpet (ie: has no enemy limps), drop limps and refill. Ie: never use an unlimped sector as a base sector. In both cases use a log to track sector you couldn't limp so you could later clear them. 101 figs = 505 density. It's a planet and a fig. It messes up dscan-only methods of gridding, and forces ppl to scan (burning a turn) in a turns game. Of course in a turns game you wouldn't want to go back and regrid, since that would cost a lot more turns. |

hey.. I'm not playing any games for the rest of the summer. I might be able to whip something up for ya. If you're still looking. Matter of fact, it might be interesting to come up with a script challenge and designate a Judge to determine who's the King Scripter! |

The quickstat script challenge from a few years ago was my favorite thread of all time. Hmm, I may have a few good ideas for another script challenge. You scripting superstars hit me up on ICQ to hear about them and give me some feedback. +EP+ |

If you find something that is interesting and would allow some participation I think it sounds fun |
