Hi, I've been having some issues with TWX Proxy. On some scripts, like World Trade and World SSM, it just stops, and hangs. I can see messages and stuff in the game still, but even if I stop the script, I can't send any commands or run another script until I disconnect/recconnect. Also, my TWX crashes most times on exit. I've tried both 2.03 and 2.04 and they both crash. I'm using Windows XP Pro and am using PuTTy to connect to TWX. If any other info is required to help solve the problem, please let me know. Thanks in advance. |

I'll take a stab: 1-Try making new TWX game files. Sounds like you DBase(s) got corrupted. And just in case you didn't know: you shouldn't use a TWX-2.04 DBase in TWX-2.03 2-TWX causes a system error, on Exiting, for every one. Just a TWX Bug. |

I am using a SWATH 1.8.3 - TWX 2.04 Final combo running on XP Pro SP2. BTW, don't colonize when not fedsafe and I am online. Game J (Red Wanderer) |

Also, in the instances where I tried a different TWX version, I completely deleted TWX, including dbase files, redownloaded, and reinstalled. |

Are you starting with empty holds and a holoscanner? And cn9 set to space? Also when using with swath autohaggle needs to be turned off or the lightbulb unchecked |

It seems to run for a few cycles and then locks up. I like the script that Xide included, and I really don't want to spend the time required to roll my own just yet. |

Dam Promethius, let them have few colonists. At least you'll have nice planet to strip later. Look at all the Turns you will save. If it is Turn Base. Is the Colonists that limited? |

Is the Colonists that limited? lol, no on the cols being limited. Truce was over and I got this nice shiny target bouncing off of Terra... can't resist such a pretty ship. Ices did make a very nice planet though as did a few others in that game. I can't talk smack to Ices though as he fell prey to the same thing others have fallen to (myself included a few times). Ices did a good job on building and I've got a feeling with more time back he/she could be a player to watch out for. |

Ices did a good job on building and I've got a feeling with more time back he/she could be a player to watch out for. I've been playing TW on and off since the good ol' days. BBS's on a 2400 baud modem and 386 IBM PS/2's, hahaha. I've never been more than mediocre, though. It's hard to really get good when you play by yourself. I found a corpmate though, and he's showing me the ropes. It's mostly about scripting nowadays, although the trigger fingers help when you get stuck at dock. I got pretty quick at QN1YY for awhile there Anyways, back on topic for a minute. I've tried using different telnet clients to connect to TWX, including the telnet client built into windows, with no change. I set CN9 to enter, not space, though. It still hangs, even with CN9 set to f1*cd though. I remember having this problem years ago, I think that's why I made this account back in 2004. I think I got it fixed back then, but I can't for the life of me remember how I fixed it. |

Welcome back Ices, and the fix on the TWX was with the older version, the 2.03 and 2.04 use different scripts setups, and the the ones, built in sometimes are a major pain and hang, but there are better ones available from Grimy Trader for them, here is the link: http://www.grimytrader.com/index.cfm sometimes you have to hit and miss on some of the TWX scripts to get them to work, on some of them they use includes folder, if that isn't in the right place and the right include in it the script will fail. I hope this helps. |

Typically, if a TWX script hangs, it's due to some trigger not firing. You can view the active triggers by hitting $st. Some scripts create a trap for any keyboard input. This sort of problem can be worked around by sending a burst (Eg. $b* will send a carriage return). Next time your session seems to hang up, try sending a burst and see if it responds to that, like maybe $b/ for a quickstat display. Update us on your results. +EP+ |

I will try here. I dont have it in front of me, so if I have the wrong syntex hopefully one of you guys can help. If you are hung up try typing thos in $st it will show you what trigger it is waiting for and sometimes you can make it happen. For example if it is waiting for you to be at the port prompt, all you have to do is hit P and when you port, it continues. Hope it helps. |

The system does not receive any keyboard input including $Z or other $ twx commands when this happens. I've got a feeling that it is something in the way the / data is used that is hosing it up in 2_worldtrade as the only time I run into problems is at the start of the game. After I've been on a while and have some resources on board, it doesn't seem to be a problem. I need to rewrite the routine that gets the / data to see if that is the issue - worth a shot anyway. I wish I could do a trigger and variable dump to see what is going on, but can't even do that. I could write in console dumps I guess to try and find the problem. |
