Unread post Geek question
I'm trying to make a local mirror of some sites that I use, for which I have a username and password. It used be that these could be added to the URL as follows:

username:password@address.com

I have read that IE stopped supporting this usage with IE6; I managed to cobble together an XP m/c to try it out on IE6, but microsludge has IE8 as part of the O/S so I couldn't install IE6. Also read that some versions of Chrome, Opera and Firefox will support the usage, but have not been able to find which ones.

Can anyone help?

Kav

Vid,

That worked perfectly. I am very much obliged to you for digging up an arcane piece of information that I hadn't been able to for months, and I doubt that I ever would have.

Thanks, and best regards from another former Eclipse Trader,

Kav.
