I was thinking of an idea for a tournament with a rule for no mixed corps. Each team is "Allowed" to create a red and a blue corp. By "Allowed", I mean forced, because no red is allowed to join a blue corp and vice versa.

Perhaps a backend script running 24/7 that hammers the player listing every x-seconds and logs any violations (comparing corp numbers to red/blue ranks, for example), and maybe makes a game announcement too?

I was just thinking of manually monitoring the game, but I like Adept's idea better...

I was also thinking a violation would be a disqualification, but then I remembered your alignment can change when attacking other players.

So what would be the appropriate penalty?

So let me start by saying, I appreciate any ideas anyone has to actually make the game interesting at this point, given the lack of attendance in games.

That said.. I am just not sure what the benefit of this is. As mentioned, attacking players will change align. This will create impossible situations and advantages or disadvantages that could well make the game nearly unplayable in certain scenarios...

I agree it is a crazy idea, but it still might be fun. I do not have the time it would require to develop an admin script for this type of game.

That being said, temporary alignment changes would have to be allowed. Players would have to have a grace period, but would be penalized the longer they stay unaligned.

This penalty could be based on minutes and/or turns. Each player would loose or gain alignment and/or experience based on the player and corp alignment. Penalties might apply to an individual player or the entire corp. Other penalties could be incurred, like taxing credits, fighters, and/or shields. Penalties for longer infringements could include loss of ships, colonists, and/or citadels, etc...

Clearly this has a much larger scope than I originally envisioned. It would be extremely difficult to implement, and even defining rules that everyone could agree on would be more difficult than defining truce play.

Maybe we'd just have to do like we did back in the day. One team, two corps and if a red went blue, they drop the red team and join the blue & vise versa.

That is SO simple... lol

Ok, this is feasible again... All the script has to do is kick the non-aligned player out of the corp at random intervals of 15-45 minutes. No other penalties need to be incurred.
