| Post subject: | Some BOTE history |
Cruncher asked me to give some records of BOTE 2003 and 2004. I have records of their existence, but very poor details, below is the best I have found so far. I posted in another thread that I had played 2003 and thought 2004 also. Reading the 2004 data I dug up, almost sure I did not play 2004. I think SG did as one of the (not quite) 7 dwarves. Having great difficulty digging up info on BOTE 2003 and 2004. Mac hosted 2003, and the Fament links for it are corrupted, if anyone can contact him, maybe they can be retrieved. I have found partial ClVs for 2003 on the Wayback machine: Trade Wars 2002 Trader Rankings : 09/14/15 03:00:08 AM # Rank Alignment Corp Trader Name Ship Type --- --------------------- -- ------------------------------ ------------------ 1 152,578 -4,500,000 4 reaper Missile Frigate 2 15,225 -4,500,000 6 zep Havoc GunStar 3 12,620 -1,072,907 6 bone collector Havoc GunStar 4 4,296 -2,249,999 6 Cbs228 Missile Frigate 5 227 4,379 4 Phoe6e Imperial StarShip 6 5 4,500,000 3 typh00n Imperial StarShip 7 1 -422,316 3 Nimbus Missile Frigate 8 1 4,500,000 4 Blue Adept Imperial StarShip 9 1 -4,499,535 3 RammaR Missile Frigate 10 1 4,500,000 3 Intrepid Imperial StarShip 11 0 1,601 6 -={ Alexio }=- Imperial StarShip 12 0 1,504 6 Father Cajone Imperial StarShip 13 0 1,021 6 LokI Imperial StarShip 14 0 1,126 3 sir lancelot Imperial StarShip 15 0 4,185,964 3 Excelsior Imperial StarShip 16 0 1,537 4 big12ozhog Imperial StarShip 17 0 31,260 4 Angus Thermopyle Imperial StarShip 18 0 -3,247,166 4 nudo Colonial Transport 19 0 -7,204 2 Hunter Hearst Helmsley # Ship Destroyed # 20 0 -5 2 OutKast # Ship Destroyed # And: Trade Wars 2002 Trader Rankings : 09/24/15 07:31:02 AM # Rank Alignment Corp Trader Name Ship Type --- --------------------- -- ------------------------------ ------------------ 1 12,577 766,100 6 Cbs228 # Ship Destroyed # 2 5,191 -2,250,000 4 Blue Adept # Ship Destroyed # 3 373 -4,500,000 4 reaper Havoc GunStar 4 176 1,125,131 3 Intrepid # Ship Destroyed # 5 57 826 3 sir lancelot # Ship Destroyed # 6 34 82,779 4 Phoe6e T'Khasi Orion 7 12 -2,249,999 3 RammaR # Ship Destroyed # 8 1 31,564 4 Angus Thermopyle Imperial StarShip 9 0 -10 3 typh00n # Ship Destroyed # 10 0 -2,249,998 6 zep # Ship Destroyed # 11 0 -10 6 -={ Alexio }=- # Ship Destroyed # 12 0 -10 6 Father Cajone # Ship Destroyed # 13 0 -23,102 6 LokI # Ship Destroyed # 14 0 -231,954 3 Nimbus # Ship Destroyed # 15 0 2,090,807 3 Excelsior # Ship Destroyed # 16 0 3,342,180 4 big12ozhog Imperial StarShip 17 0 -4,499,999 4 nudo Havoc GunStar 18 0 -10 6 bone collector # Ship Destroyed # CBS228 posted on his site that Corp 4 won. That is my recollection also. Eleq handled the 2004 game, I cant dig up anything from his site other than game settings, even for that I needed wayback machine: http://web.archive.org/web/200605201604 ... m/bote.cgi TWGS.org has some info: 2004 thread starts: http://twgs.org/?program=messages&startingpoint=44 2003 thread starts: http://twgs.org/?program=messages&startingpoint=236 Yahoo egroups have next to nothing, but by then we had more or less abandoned them for twgs.org, because of the commercials. This forum has next to nothing either. That period was part of the massive data loss during a change in format or stewardship around 2005 or so - posts and threads were lost in their entirety and are not on the wayback archive, which doesn't go very deeply into embedded links. My post record dropped by several hundred, must have been tens of thousands of posts lost, including a particularly excellent one by Rev, which was a record of all the Tournies to that date, Players, winners, gossip etc. - the result of major research on his part. |

Thanks for this insight. It's a shame that some of the history has been lost, but every fragment we dig up helps to complete the puzzle. |

Does anybody know if there was a BOTE 2005 or 2006? I've been digging through links for the 03/04 games and haven't had much more luck finding any concrete proof of winners or settings for those games. I'm very interested in completing the BOTE history. If anybody has any information, or know anybody you can elbow for information, at this point hear say is better than no information at all. Looking for the years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 Who Hosted: Who Played: Corp Names: Dates Played: Who Won: If you find any information on the web, please include links. |

BOTE 2003 http://tradewars.fament.com/bote2003/index.php?a=tba BOTE 2004 - Hosted at The Stardock http://www.thestardock.com/?p=357 Missing a lot of info. I'm not finding anything beyond this. Not even anything about last year's B.O.T.E. unless you search the forum here. No one kept daily logs like we did for that first one. I'm very glad you have the setup now RP to save and archive the logs for this game. |

Hmm, I'm not sure about the 07 game, but I should extract the logs from last years and make them public so we can keep them around. I'm trying to update my own page at http://www.runawayproton.com/BOTE.html for the short version of the history. |

Many thanks to MacAhan for giving me the direct links to the 2003 games that had failed for whatever reason. It's lifted the veil on the 2003 game. I'll be updating my website after this years game concludes to include this data. View the links for yourself. You can adjust the 2003 to view the data for the 2000-2003 games. http://tradewars.fament.com/bote2003/registered.php http://tradewars.fament.com/bote2003/blowups.php http://tradewars.fament.com/bote2003/invitationlist.php http://tradewars.fament.com/bote2003/logs/index.htm |

BOTE 1999: It was hosted by Budweiser, on his "pay to play" BBS, which had limited nodes, many of which were assigned to BOTE. He exempted the BOTE players from paying, which actually destroyed BOTE 1999. At least 1/3 of the players were banned for trivial reasons, and he shut down the game before it had run it's course, to recover the nodes. Made no difference to his income, the lost traffic never returned, it was near the end of pay to play anyway. There were only 2 corps left when he shut it down. Miller Party Board and Eclipse. MPB was Shark, Epicenter, Lancez (aka Jack Box) and 3 others I cant remember but no doubt Epi, this year's BOTE, can fill in the blanks. Eclipse was SG, Mega Hertz, Kyp Durron, Krank, Wicked One and me. We were more or less stalemated even before it ended and agreed to call it a tie. |

I think I hosted the BOTE 2006 I will see if I still have the records of the game and will post if I can find it. I also know I played in the 2005 BOTE, with Comet, Ender and some others as well. I think SG actually hosted that BOTE, but I can't be 100% sure. Vulcan Edited to add info. |

I've dug through my huge archive and it seems there were only three teams. http://www.thestardock.com/?m=200411 http://twgs.org/?program=messages&comma ... sage=29160 This team won *officially* on Dec 8th.. http://twgs.org/?program=messages&comma ... sage=29188 The reason it seems there is no data is because there was barely a game. |

Thanks Eleq on adding to the history. The more complete we make this the better we all can see the tradition of the Tourny, RP will like this a lot. Wow the makes two BOTES I was in, lmao, I was Ghost Ryder, lmao. My brother was Incubus. Really thanks on this Eleq, I had almost forgot about that one. Yeah Alex, HHH and company dominated that game and kicked butt, it was also the first time I started getting back into TW and was learning the scripts and still played by hand at the time, I guess I will have to learn the sctipts to be competitive enough when I finally come back out of retirement. At least I did try to come out to give some competition to the others, though very rusty, I at least tried to give them a run, and the others on the team did likewise, at least we were man enough to step up. Slim and I have had some jokes and fun about that game, even though he was on the team that won. We were friends then and still are, man I haven't heard from him in a long time. I wonder how he is doing? Vulcan Edited to add content. |
