Most of you probably don't know that there is a Trade Wars 2002 SETI@HOME team. Well there is, and I'm the team captain. The problem is that we don't have a lot of people contributing. I've been on a membership drive, and I've gotten three new members in the last two months, which is why you can see a huge jump in image number three. ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm still on a membership drive SETI@HOME is a distributed computing project. The aim is to evaluate billions of hours of extra-terrestrial radio sources to see if any of them are from intelligent life forms. There is software for Linux, Mac, and even Windows, and there's instructions on how to install it on the SETI@HOME Website. I've also helped people install the software on all three operating systems, and can help out if you get into trouble. During the installation one option is joining a team, enter "Trade Wars 2002" and you'll find you are on a team with me, Kavanagh, Acidman, MasterDeathWing, and Thepants (he used to play TW as Earthbound Mike). There's a long list of inactive TW players. You can see the entire team here. We haven't seen the following people in years: > (yes, this is really what the name shows up as) Achilles_79 Anarchotique Atog boyracer Devil Dog DigiTalis EleqTrizi'T fuseblown Icey macahan Mana Knight Minstrel32 Moebius Futures Raybz Retaliator SDietrich shagnasti sonic SyntaX Xerces-work Zentock Every extra contributor helps. If you have a top end video card, it helps even more. Video cards with CUDA or OPEN CL capabilities can really crunch numbers fast. So join up, and lend a hand. Wayne aka The Mad Hatter |

I don't doubt that there are many who do not remember The Mad Hatter, of TW fame. Google him. He wrote all sorts of TW add ons back in the day. An expander, for one, which made for universes of thousands of sectors long before the 20K became available. I'll stand corrected, but I think it was before the 5K universe was around. He is my oldest TW acquaintance, a good friend, and a mean script writer. My only problem with him back in the day when he played was that his Lady Wife also dabbled in TW time to time, so he didn't get domestic trouble and strife like me. |

I've got a few spare cycles - added the app and running. I figure I've ran TWX 24/7 for a long time, might as well run this. |
