I signed up for an account for Eve a couple weeks ago and all I've been doing is treading water.

Was wondering if there are any TradeWarriors that would like to join forces and teach a dumb Redneck how to play Eve.

If so my handle is StudleyManiac and I am currently mining in Sinq Laison region.

Message me or what ever the hell it is they do.

Thanks

Eve is simply what Tradewars could have, and should have grown into.

I looked at EVE very briefly years ago when other players left TW for EVE.

I'm sorry, I don't agree. TW is fine just the way it is. The graphics in my imagination are sufficient for me, and 3 commoditites, simple is sweet!

The thing that TW has that other games don't is the unpredicability of real people. Real people do the darnest things!

Graphics? You do realize this is a text based game right?

And real people? Eve has like 30000 "real people" in game around the clock.

I can understand not wanting to get into it, but cmon... those reasons are ridiculous.

I played eve off and on for a couple years.. never got too into because of the fact that a player can never catch up to one that has played since the beginning... and the fact that the gamplay itself is a little lame... make it joystick controlled and u got something there.

I payed to play TW back in MBBS days. It cost us $5 per month per server. And that was on a 9600 baud modem. After a while sysops started recruiting me to play on thier serverse for free because I brought with me the crowd who would like to pod me.

Do you have voices in your head to match those graphics?
And only real people play Tradewars, not EVE? I see maybe half a dozen in a good game of TW, and maybe 40,000 in eve with an almost unlimited universe? You don't think that's unpredictable? Hauling a cargo worth 25 Billion that took you over 5 months to earn, and hope you don't get blown to bits by pirates? Buying and selling commodities that vary in price every day trying to make a profit, or mining minerals to sell or build with? Naw, I guess you're right it's to predictable. Better stick to TW and hope you can figure out what your half dozen opponents are dreaming up.

Yeah, found those reasons lame myself. However it's not for everybody.
I can pay for most of my accounts now using the in game currencey to buy game time so there's no out of pocket.
However if you like the XBox approach watch for Dust514 coming out soon. It will be a counsel based game that is tied into the same EVE universe that we play in. Two games share 1 universe. As I've heard it's never been done yet, but looking forward to seeing how it works out.

I'm currently living in a wormhole which I've built myself a station inside of it, fighting off drone warriors and selling their wreckage for profits, mining astroid belts for minerals that I refine, then sell to my alternate corporation and build missiles or ships, and also I harvest gas clouds in there as well. Sometimes someone slips in and tries to take minerals from me and I hunt him down, and attempt to blow up his ship. I have to scan him down in the WH, then switch ships, and go to a fight, or call in a corp mate to help me.

Eve is a hard game to get started in. I'd say a year at least to really start having any fun. But there are shortcuts as well. I have my original character which I've been skilling from the begining, but I've also purchased other characters using the in game currency (isk) which have been skilled longer than I've been playing. My prized posetion in the game is my Character which has over 100 million skillpoints now! (not many of them out there by percentage) I also have another pilot which can fly, and effectivly fight in almost any ship in the universe, and there's a lot of choices.

There is a 14 day free trial,.. but it's addictive. I'm not really here to recruit though. Just wanted to make a point that the game is really a lot of aspects that TW could have grown into. I love the game as is. But if you ever want to see it expanded with graphics, and such, EVE is your game.

Please excuse my friend. He's a little off today with his numbers.. there isn't 40,000 people playing EVE. No.. not even close.. again I'm so sorry for the mix up. I understand his reaction though... It's tough communicating with close minded individuals. The Cluster I connect to can have between 10,000 and 45,000 players... but in all.. there are close to 300,000 players WorldWide. Again I'm sorry for the inaccuracy. It should be pointed out that unfortunately some people do Dupe in EVE. It's sad, I know

We have to come here to find the elite gamers :D

And it does say Open Discussions

And this is an open discussion

I honestly think the two games go hand in hand. One is historical and nostalgic, the other has the broader action that most gamers now days are looking for. There's nothing wrong with comparing the two.
