Finding myself overwhelmed with data. Used to play way back in the day, kinda interested in getting back into it. Could use some basic advise on tools to use. Soooo many posts with dif things...and I just don't know what makes the most sense.

I installed "Swath" and was able to login to a game. No idea if swath alone is lacking high-end functionality? Something said twxpoxy with swath, but the proxy just puts an icon in my tray. I'm not sure if TWHELPER is still active. I vaguely recall using helper in the past.

Do I need swath AND helper? Would love to be able to do trade macros and not have to micromanage so much and be able to map where i've been and all that stuff. Happy to register for any of these things, I just hope someone can share what the good "combo" is to get started?

I know that I have seen instructions for setting up TWX-Proxy multiple times, but all that I can find is: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1r1J ... it?tab=t.0

However, if you want questions answered, Discord has been the best place to ask for a while: https://discord.gg/s8TZsVBZ

The best setup is probably twxproxy with Swath, or twxproxy with Zoc. Twxproxy is essential if you want to be competitive. On top of that, you're gonna want a bot, like mombot, but maybe just figure out how to use twxproxy, first.

If you use it with Swath, you'll find that some functionality is redundant. You'll be tempted to use the swath scripts instead of the twxproxy ones. The problem with that is that swath is much slower.

The thing about twxproxy is it sits between you and your telnet connection. Instead of you connecting directly via telnet, you configure twxproxy to do it for you. As part of the deal, twxproxy can accept commands from you to launch scripts. Those scripts trigger on text coming across your network connection. Since twxproxy sits as close as possible to the data coming across the wire, it can react that much more quickly.

I personally can't stand Discord and I don't understand why anyone uses it. And the content isn't searchable from the greater web.
