The last time I played I was still on dial-up and my ping was something like 250ms... translation - slow as molassas! So today, what's concidered a decent ping time? I've had some success with my little attack and retreat macro, avoiding p-torps each time, so I presume I've got decent speed. What's generally the range that most people connect with now, and if I recall, the thing that effects ping is just how far geographically you are from the server you're playing. I used to have a tool that told me exactly how my connection was traveling over the web, each transfer etc. So, when I noticed a slow down, it was usually one of the servers on the network was down and I was routed through a different connection. Probably not much of an issue today, or is it? |

The approximations I use: Fast < 150 Good 150 - 180 Fair 180 - 200 Bad news > 200 and time to cby out. A great ping though only goes so far. |

That is funny , I fall into the Quote: Bad news > 200 and time to cby out. category with my 300 ~ 400 ping but I find it challenging to play those in the 180~280 ping area. |

I think I was being a little generous before, 250 was a good day and 400 was - OK, I'm gonna cry now! Needless to say, I'm a bit faster now. |

I had a Ping test from http://www.whoisxy.com/ping.aspx and here are the results, Minimum = 188ms, Maximum = 194ms, Average = 190ms So, I am happy that i fall under FAIR category. |
