I'm having a lil' trouble totally grasping invasion w/ ptorps, and it's the next step i feel in my evolving tw skills...I'd like to use macro's to invade of course, so if anyone could help me on this would be appreciated. (for example photon move land attack ftrs...all in one move as in duration) not good at macro writing yet!!!

So, if i understand right...I can slip in with a ptorp and get to the ftrs. but then have to kill off all ftrs on planet b4 i can claim it, no matter if im in the photon duration wave or not.... (and the shield factor of course)

What then would be the proper technique to invade a maxed sector. (5 sheilded, mines, sector fig's, def. ships)

also, how do you set a script to a hot key in twx/zoc ex. "save me"
I wish to reak havoc!!!!! Need tips, thanx in advance.

You will have a lot of people give you examples on best how to do it, but Kemper did an article several years ago that is VERY good at the all you need to know stuff.
http://www.tw-cabal.com/strategy/invadingbases.html

He has the macros you will want in it, and gives you examples on either shielded, non shielded, along with many different options that you can do in achiving your goal. Very valuable piece of writing on this subject.

I think that should work... it's late, might have missed something. Quits off whatever, fires torp, clears avoids, moves, answers prompts, fires 2 50k waves or nothing (incase the torp wave fails and there's a small number of figs there), tries to retreat if it needs to, tries to drop a fig and lands on planet 99 if it can.

Of course odds are you will get podded, hence the 2 n's after the planet land (don't wanna go ewarping).

If the planets are shielded you can't ptorp past the sector cannons. You can get under the figs however.

If you manage to survive the landing then you need to get figs and refill to take out the planet. That's why you will, at some point, have to take out the sector figs and get your own planet in. If you're solo then plan an xport escape ship so you can atleast get out of the sector.

Only way into a sector like that is to get in past the sector cannons, take out the sector figs, get your own in, get a planet in and then moth the cannons down enough to get on the planet without dying. From there you take out the shields to below 200, then torp - move - kill the shields and start working on the figs. Pay close attention to military reaction, if it's enough to kill you then you'll need to torp invade until the figs are low enough not to kill you.

Anyway, more or less. Could write a freaking book on the subject of invading planets... with all of the billion different variables and options and opinions.

The real fun trick is doing all this while they're at-keys trying to warp their planets out ;).

It depends 100% on the edits, the situation, etc..
Are they online?
How many planets?
What is in sector?
Is there a lvl6?
Any level 5's?
How much resources do you have?
Whats your best invading ship?
What is photon duration time (ie: can u shoot, xport, move?)
Do I have corpies online to back me up?
What is the planet # that I want to invade?

Basically, you do NOT need to learn how to write a planet invade macro.
You need to learn two things.
#1: How to invade a planet.
#2: How to write a macro.

If you learn these two things, then you will be a far superior player than if you just ask "how do i macro invade?" because when a variable changes in the equation, you won't be able to adapt, and you'll die.
Read the cabal, ask some questions, and play in some games on corps with players with more experience than you, have them show you how to invade, have them explain why they are doing what they are doing as they do it. Then let them let you try, etc..
Also, learn to make macros. That is a KEY to playing tradewars. Macros are 75% of my game, and you can ask anyone I played against if they thought they weren't good enough. Do you want twx macros? zoc macros?
twx (and swath i think) use * as enter
zoc uses ^m

you want to abort displays at all times (i always kept my option to space, and just put spaces into my macros)

so lets say i want to macro a photon and attack a ship or something. (doing this as a simple macro, i've holoscanned, etc.. not gonna start w/ zn etc..)(there is a guy in sector 234 and i am in 123 which is adj, he is in a scout (so i don't bother capturing) and i'm in a wtfpwn)

"c p y 234^m q q m234^m ^m a y 9999^m "
(i think 2 q's is right, though it may only be one, i haven't fired a photon in a long time, hehe)

irregardless, that would go into your computer
go into photon control
say yes you want to shoot a photon
say sector 234
shoot photon
leave your photon/computer and go back to sector prompt
move to adj sector 234
attack
first ship? yes
9999 figs (or 999 or 99 or 9 or 0 depending on your max wave/# of figs you have)
poof, that scout maurader is gone.

basically, learn all the prompts and options in the game, and you can make a macro to do anything :)

i *think* i had a zoc write up somewhere that explained how to make macros in zoc and how to save them etc.. though that may have disappeared :)

Slim is right- not all games are the same, and there is no be all/end all macro or script for invading.
Some people like to invade by photon>move>land, while others just take out the sector figs and warp in a planet.
Edits are a big part of invading. If the ship edits are weak, or the planet edits strong, you'll need to learn to moth first.
Hit me up if you want to practice invading. I know a good place we can work on it.

Much of this has good merit Cix.
Might I suggest getting Sing's Whitepaper on macros from Grimy's it will help you in your quest
