If ship delay is on, is the delay 1 second x TPW? I've got a situation where I'm having to moth a large number of figs behind a gate sector with 6M off figs. Ship delay is on, and photon duration is set to 20 seconds and multiple photons are off. Is that going to give me enough time, to photon in, xport to the IC, move it to the back sector, and move the pod out before my time runs out? Or do I need to use a faster ship?

It depends on the actual delay settings, also exporting is a no-delay movement so it won't cost any time to do it just a turn:

Ship Delay
This is a TWGS Global SysOp/GameOp configurable setting, which determines an inherent movement delay on all ships depending upon their TPW, the higher the TPW is the slower the ship moves or Twarps from sector to sector. Delay settings are as follows:

0 – Normal Movement (1000ms * TPW)
1 – Quarter Movement (250ms * TPW)
2 – Third Movement (333ms * TPW)
3 – Half Movement (500ms * TPW)
4 – Double Movement (2000ms * TPW)
5 – None, N/A (250ms)
NOTE – 1,000ms are equal to 1-second.

Question: would you really want to worry about the pod at this point, (maybe if they are worth a lot of cash), but otherwise making the most of your time would that not be of more imporantance during an invasion?

you should be able to do all of that bout 10 times ;)

How far away is the back sector? Are you mowing or twarping? Where's the pod? What's it's TPW? 20 seconds is a lot, but if the IC has a tpw of 10 and full ship delay... maybe not.

The reason I'm worried about the pod is I dont want to be SDed. The other day I lifted off a planet in the back sector (previously mine) without doing a sector scan from the planet got podded, the pod warped next door and the figs in the other sector got the pod.

You need to create a secure sector that your pod can flee back to, otherwise there's no way to know for sure what will happen. Even then, depending on how you're podded, you still might end up #SD#.

No way if the ships are stock, the IC's tpw is 15 and the pod's is 6. At full ship delay that's 21 seconds just to move to the second sector and have you pod bounce out. The safest way would be to clear the first sector with a Battleship or ISS as they are the only ships that will survive the offense figs.

(I'm assuming stock ships since you didn't provide the details.)

Yeah, ships are stock.

So is the second sector only defended with offense figs? If so you may be to use an ISS or Battleship to take them out without taking any pods. If you photon into the first sector, move to the second sector, and then retreat of off the remaining figs. That's 12 seconds in an ISS or BS, you should be OK as long as you're back in the first sector before the photon wears off. Be sure to use a macro and you should have plenty of time. Of course with the BS you'll need to add a ship transport to the macro.
