200 shields are required to protect quasar cannons from photons.
How many shields are required to protect players sitting in the citadel?

Don't have it, but it didn't show anything anyway. With only a few K shields on the planet the photons were still affecting me and corpies, but didn't give the photon damaging your ship message. Couldn't use the planet transporter or anything. When we maxed the shields on the planet they protected us just fine.

PHX try an experiment on a game with the same shields and see if it still happens. If it does, then up the shields some to see when it stops, I have had this happen on a game in test on my server, and the players said the photons affecting them stopped about 500 shields on that game. I hope this helps you. and the twgs and TW2002 are the latest and the game is a long running test game for some players testing things. It is just a thought.

Ok, see if you can get the sysop to mail out a twa to Harley. If it can be replicated, we could get something to JP.
I've tried reproducing the bug, and I can't. But I'm using stock planets, classic settings. Was there anything really odd about the bang? Are messages ok? No obvious corruption of the database, etc...?
And you do mean 200 planet shields, not 200 ship shields, right? I hate to ask, but for those who don't know, 200 planet shields = 2000 ship shields. Put another way, it takes 2000 ship shields put on a planet to stop photons.

The planet shows over 200 shields when you hit D or ENTER from the planet prompt. There was one thing about the game that I don't think it has anything to do with it, when the sysop banged, he did not randomize it and the universe came out exactly the same as last bang.

ahhhh, a direct copy of the last universe, with maybe small differences in it, I have found even when the rebang isn't randomized it still has small subtle differences, but nothing that would matter, and that could have affected things on the game. or at least the database players had saved to see if it worked on the rebang.
