i am going to start making game edits, but would like them to be very good edits so i will consult with the very best before i release them (so i dont look stupid) but would like public input as to what most people prefer. what types of games people are looking for, what ship types people like what planets they like fast game/slow game red game/blue game/as even as possible low turns/medium turns/script kiddie turns.. i mean unlimited, heh etc.. so if you the public who are just like me and maybe not seeing what you are looking for out there now (or finding it and it lasting an hour) please give me your input (and im sure other people will read this and get your input as well) so i/we can do our best to make games that people enjoy playing. thanks Slim |

well, I've done my own game making and have my own personal type edits that i follow because thats what i like. but over all, I think players look for good ship edits. (meaning, the fighter amount ratio from the best good ship to the best evil ship compared to the ratio of holds those ships have as well. And of course, the offense and defense odds). If you set up good ship edits, your 75% of the way there. The rest depends on the game settings. (turns, delays, sectors) And as long as you have 1 or 2 decent planets, it will make an alright game. but seeing as how you want an awesome type game. Id make more than 3-4 planet edits and go with planets for figs. planets for ore. and planets for organics and equipment. (personaly, i dont let fig planets get higher than lvl 3) but thats whats great about tradewars... you have so many different edits and a wide range of themed games out there. [:D] i hope i made some sense! (i kind of forgot where i was going with all this [:D]) if at first you dont succeed, change it around and run it again! good luck! |

You may want to look at some games that others have setup that are popular. At Coastgames (http://www.coastgames.com/files/index.php) you can download many .twa files and import them into TWGS. You can then use tedit to look at the edits. |

http://www.geocities.com/tradewarrior55/Files_Page.html that link has most of the coast games and also some of mine. I also am working on some themes that will soon be posted. I may make a new page soon. I like a variety of games. Dont care too much for over 7k sectors. dont play many 20k unlimited. I hate aliens, but will put up with Ferrengi if I like the other edits. I like a Fast but weak Level 4 planet. holo-Scanners on scouts and colts. Thats all I can think of now its late. |

i do have first set of edits done based on Sun Zu's "The Art of War". if anyone would like to look at it and critique it for me i am very willing to send it out to anyone. i made it for a low to mid turn game, anything more than 10k turns a day and a ship or two will have to be taken out of circulation (made a ship for max price.. if its low turns and you can afford it, game is over anyway) but other than that, icq me if you wanna take a look. just remember its a first draft Slim 207-107-486 |
