Here are my 2 biggest gripes for JP, and anyone else that wants to comment. First, I want a toggle for type II twarp, per ship. So just as you determine if it can have twarp, want to decide if ship can also hold type 2. No idea how much programming of course, but this is important to me at least <G>. The second, and its a huge issue is the way CIM-hunting works. First, I think its far too easy to find someone using the cim-hunting scripts. Second, I think its extremely unrealistic the way it works. Lets examine it shall we?

1. I drop a fighter over a port and it will not respond to enemy cim requests.

-Supposing my fighters have the technology to suppress communications between the port and other players, thus making the port "disappear", wouldn't I prefer to have my fighters spoof the ports communications and report that the port is just as it was when i laid my fighters?

-Supposing my fighters do not have the technology to block communications, instead they intimidate the port into silence. Wouldn't I prefer to maintain neutrality to the port, and vice versa, so, knowing that to not respond would give away the presence of my forces, the port ought to respond normally to cim requests

2. I just cannot see a scenario where the current CIM/fighter over port system makes sense for realism. If you have thought this through and have an answer please respond so we can debate it.

3. Playability suffers as a result of this situation. Currently, "CIM-Hunting" is available only to the few master scripters. The Reverend has his CIM tools but they are a far cry from complete CIM hunting technology, some tweaking has to be done to this properly. What this means is, there is a smaller minority able to use this "feature" than there was able to use the photon from fed scripts that people used for stardock blockades.

4. I cannot swear by it, but I seem to remember, in HVS MBBS Tradewars, pre 2.01, visiting a sector was enough to get a cim report, whether fighters were present in the sector or not. Reason I remember this is doing cim dumps in TWAR for DOS, and using the scroll back to find any ports that were 0 0 0 products, as that indicate ports under construction that were likely enemies, and also looking for upgraded ports that I did not have on my list as under my control. Anyway, my point here is I do not think this CIM feature has always been this way, and I would suggest that the way i am describing HVS MBBS versions may or may not be better, its more realistic <G>, and much more even, as far as the ability for players to take advantage of it. All I need is a telnet app with scrollback to do it that way...

Comments welcome obviosuly, sorry its so long winded, am trying to make some serious points though. Thanks
