Here's my question.

Does a ship in tow take the blast of a q-cannon as well as the ship towing.
We are planning an invasion in a game I'm in in Ferrengi Territory. Were after a lvl 6 planet. my corp is 4 strong. And we have all the resources we need. (We can bring as many figs as needed, have a great money maker on our team)

So we were planning to drain the ore off the planet by sending in dummy ships to absorb the blasts of the q-cannon enough so that we can send our power in and not have to worry about scratching the paint.

2nd. Question.

Does anyone know how well the Ferrengi normally stock a planet. Being that it is shielded can't see whats on it.

To reply to your first question....I don't think the q-cannon will affect the ship in tow.

To your second question....It depends on the age of the game. Ferrengi worlds are sysop configurable, I belive, and will grow at the same rate as a normal planet. Most games I play in start ferrengal with a lvl3 or lvl4. But, I don't think the planet starts with pre-set ore. That means you can get ferrengal easily in the first day, but it gets harder after that! If your game is old...Watch out for a hell of a jolt as u enter the sector...but if it is new, then don't expect too much resistance.

Ship in tow will be fine. And what type of planet is it? If it is an Earth type, which is default, then look at another Earth planet in the game to see what the max fuel is (in case it has been edited). If it is only 100k (Default) or something then you won't have a problem at all. Also check to see if the game is MBBS or not, this can affect what kind of damage the cannon will hit for in the sector. Also, once you get hit 2x you can do a calculation and figure out what the sector cannon is set at which will then give you an idea of how much fuel is left on the planet. Same applys for the atmosphere cannon, once you get hit 2x you can calculate what it is set at and antipate the next shot. This is good if you can moth 2x then yuo will knwo what type of ship to take in to invade.

One thing that you want to be careful of is draining all the fuel. As appealing as this sounds it's not a great idea. If you can take out the shields and then photon and invade to save soem fuel, you will be able to pwarp the planet out right away. If you drain all the fuel you will have to spend a lot of turns fueling it up (if no port in the sector); or money and time if there is a port. Just something to consider.

MBBS mode doesn't affect sector blasts, only atmostpheric. Sector is always ore * % / 3. In MBBS mode, atmostphere is ore * % * 2, in non-MBBS it is just ore * %. Also, thought I would throw in HOW to calculate ore based on cannon blasts :)
%=1-(second hit / first hit)
once you have the hit, you find current ore by:
ore = ((second hit * 3) / %) - (second hit * 3)
