is there any way to determine the price of a ship at dock using the onboard computer's catalog?

Do you mean if the numbers go greater then single digits or are you referring to alien ships or do you mean what you will get from a stocked out ship? I would like to see room made for larger numbers in the new version of TW. Until that occurs the answer to the first two questions I posed it is simple either attempt to purchase or sell the vessel to see the entire cost. For the third question I posed, other then also attempting to sell the vessel to find out what it is actually worth you could right a script to figure it out for you based on the games costs, but there would be difficult to do because you would need to know if it has a fusion driver, computers, etc., as these will greatly effect the cost. Addionally I would like to see these options added to the ships catalog as well, it would be really nice to know if a gold ship has the guardian bonus or not without having to take a risk and finding out the hard way. But until these hidden from view options are included, writing a script to figure it out would not yield very accurate figures.

I mean that I am stuck in Fed with 3 turns. No way to go to dock today to check the prices. But if I could find out just from my computer catalogue, I can save a trip and turns since then I would know how much to trade for to get my next ship.

Depends on the ship's prices for instance:

Basic Hold Cost:4,957,300
Main Drive Cost:1,116,800
Computer Cost:9,018,700
Ship Hull Cost:3,371,600
Ship Base Cost:8,464,400

If you add what is visible you get approx 27 mil, but the catalog does not display costs over $9,999,999 so this actual ship cost 74 mil. For the lower cost ships, you can add the costs.

CC won't always work as Promethius already said. Also, for small
numbers it may tell you how much the ship costs to buy, but won't
tell you what hardware costs (transwarp, scanner, holds, shields,
ftrs) nor what your current ship will sell for.

That is really the only current way to determine it though, until the catalog is setup better, it will only give you a generalized figure of what to except to make or gain from the ship.

As far as the cost of the scanners and twarp and stuff, leave the game, go to the menu where ur choices are Play Trade Wars...ect
At that promt hit * and it will display the Hardware cost and won't waste any turns, but if u have over 100k cash and have not been taxed for the day, u will be taxed on reentering the game.
And if at Dock with 3 turns, u probley won't be looking for a real expensive ship, but as stated above all ship cost won't show up if too high, it might look like it cost 5 mil, but u go to buy one, it might really be 25 mil.
As far as Resale on ships, not sure how the game calculates that. It varies alot, might depend on how long u've had it, or combat seen.

How would it jump from 27 to 74 mil? Was that a typo?

The cost for each section is only partial, thats what u can see from ur Ships computer. Better example, I'll take directly from a live game.
This is What u see in your ships computer:
Ship Category #27 Ship Class : Joy Ride
Basic Hold Cost: 254,445
Main Drive Cost: 215,000
Computer Cost:0,000,000
Ship Hull Cost:5,200,000
Ship Base Cost:5,669,445
Ok, now the same ship at Dock when u go to buy it shows this:
Joy Ride 25,669,445
so alot of the cost ur computer shows, its only showing part of it. But he was trying to show that what u see added up still isn't the correct cost. Also even examing the ship at dock shows the same as ur computer. The only way to know the real cost is to go to the Buy screen in the shipyard

Drat. Well, I have to go to dock then to check the prices. I really need for TW to include them when doing the "*" at the game entry prompt. The hardware prices are listed, as are the prices at the tavern and even the amount that you might win at tricon, why not the ship prices? BTW, I was wanting to know the price to buy a new ship, not sell a new ship or buy a new ship plus accesories.

the ships they are showing you are from unlim edit games.
in almost all turn games, CC (ship base cost) will tell you the price of the ship, as in most turn games, ships dont cost more than 9,999,999.
but, the ship base cost is the total price of the ship.
