I'm just curious what exactly it takes damage point wise to blow stardock, i have a 2.4/1.6 odds ship that sends waves of 20k figs 75k total, i have about 300k figs, is it possible for me to blow dock. Is there a formula of total damage that needs to be done to blow it, and how much damage does it do to you each turn?

im faster than traitor!
first. if all class 0/9 ports remain unblown, then with that ship you *should* be able to blow the dock alone once. however, you can blow the dock a few times with help from corpies. they can continue to refill you up with figs as you are on the attack prompt.
as for exact formulas... traitor can have that one. heh

Slim, i'm starting to believe you just like to see your name all over the forum =). The dude was asking for real numbers, formulas and whatnot, and you come back with, "you should be able to". Somehow I think bnix will be waiting for Traitor to get back to him, as will I. I think it would be good to know how to calculate how much it'll take to take dock away from the game.
Ok you know i'm busting your chops too, after all you still think you were the MVP of BG 3.0 and 3.1

Well, can't find my notes. (I *did* find my pair of scripts for blowing up dock tho )
Takes about 250k figs with a stock IC. So in a stock game, you need a 2nd corpie to load you up with figs while you stay at the attack prompt. Ship odds do factor in when attacking a port, but as far as I remember, they don't factor in when defending against the ports retaliation. (So, the remaining 55k figs might not be enough to survive the retaliation...) I know that each time you hit and damage the port, it's retaliation gets progressivly weaker.
Heh. found what I was looking for:

you want real numbers? blow the dock a few times. experiment. as traitor said, with a stock IC, its 250k figs. (1.2 attack odds if i recall, and 15k fig wave) so i figure with 75k figs, double the odds, a slightly larger wave, it'll be close.
and i was mvp hehe

I think ill test this on a test server with a ship like this, damage decreases as more damage is done to the port, so ill need to test the total damage needed to be done. Not including fig losses. So i'm curious if it takes 50k figs with the stock ics to attack it and 200k get blown or what, b/c if it only takes 50k to blow it the it would only take 25k in this ship and the defensive rating would be low enough after the attack to withstand the defensense.

IMHO...blowing Star Dock is a simple slick trick to end a game quickly and has been used in past 'Major Tournies' to end a game in fewer hours than the weeks corps used to gather their teams. My recommendations to gameops for a couple years has been to blow the special ports several times before they bang the games before they open. It is not a 'bug' but has been known to bug enough players that they left and not returned after that event occurred. Yes...the tactic is allowed but exploiting it has also caused a couple major games to collapse as there were too few players willing to play them again. I'd like to hear some more replies on this issue!

I agree this is too easy in a gold game and should be a way to harden SD & class 0's.
There should be a way to do this before a game but not sure (will explore more) how to do this for a script to run after rebang.
Maybe it can be done [:P]
I'de like to see it as a tournament option where sysop can make changes from default (J.P.'s preferances).
Any TWX script help would be apreciated [:D]

easiest way i can think of is just making an uber ship, blow the dock, run extern, blow dock, run extern, etc.. till it gets hard/impossible to blow the dock alone in your uber ship. then delete the uber ship, open the game. takes maybe 5 minutes by hand, but for things like major tournies, usually there is alot more than 5 minutes prep time by most all the players, so 5 minutes from the op usually isn't too much to ask

Well, I cannot be 100% sure, but in general, the only games were Dock can be blown quick are usually because of how the edits were setup. IMHO if you chose to play edits that it can be easily done, than that is your own fault for playing if you don't like dock blown. In a less severly edited game, it takes alot of resources to blow dock, which means everybody has the resources to prepare for it. Personally, I always go under the assumption it can happen, so I try to keep an eye on when it can occur. I didn't do this before, but do now.
While I rarely blow dock in any game, I believe it is a valid tactic. As a good example, a game were planets come with fuel. The enemy corp simply sits in their base, making planets and fueling their planets, to keep someone out. They never grid, never leave base, etc. Well, the only to win is blowing dock. This is because of poor edits. Another game I saw the other day (the stupidest edits in the world, and the author should be shot), were planets that popped with 1M ore, and 0 day lvl6 with no upgrade cost. The only way to defeat that is blowing dock.
In a standard game, a corp with have to blow all their resources early to kill dock in an early stage of the game, which leaves them screwed. So I once again don't see it being bad.
If a sysop wants to harden dock, there are plenty of ways to do it. If you have severe edits, expect dock to get blown.

Easiest way to make blowing dock moot is to drop the radiation lifetime to one day so it always comes back the following extern. Then you don't have to screw around with blowing it up yourself.
