I am playing a game right now, and everytime I find a particular corp, they up and move all their planets to another sector. Since they have 4 shielded planets, it would be difficult to take the planets in one day (I don't even know if it could be done). I am wondering, is there anyway to prevent this from happening besides:
1) putting some figs in every deadend sector in the universe
2) destroying them right away

Thanks

Fig the universe, run a density photon so when they come in to move planets they can't come back in. Get a fig in their sector quick, so that once they move a planet they can't twarp back. Get a planet in therr with them. Invade when they aren't online. Just some suggestions. I would go for fig the universe if unlim or high turns.

heh what do you think they would do just say oh well he found me i will just stay here and get invaded. One benefits for mobile planets is to move them for defense. Yeah Drac gave good advice on the procedure. good luck.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by run a density photon. You'll have to forgive me, I haven't figured out all the tradewarseeze. I assume, you mean fig the universe and wait for them to enter a sector then via my planet run the Planet-Warp-In-Photon them script so that they loose their turns, then enter their home sector and drop down some figs so they can't return.

Ya, I do expect them to warp their planets out when we find them, it's just real annoying and I wanted some advice on "how the pros" handle this situation.

Thanx

I would invade them as soon as I found them. Even if you can only get one planet, that means they just have 3 left. Next time you just take 1 and then they have 2 left, etc. Alternately, when you find them, drain all their ore so they can't move. Fig the sector and put enough of your planets in there so they can't enter, then you can take your time. Lots of options :) The fig the universe thing is to deny them a place to move to. If you have all but 20 sectors in the universe figged, it rather narrows their hiding spots :)

I was thinking about that solution last night. With only 600 turns in a 5,000 sector universe it will take a long time to fig it entirely. We have a pretty large tactical advantage over our opponents, so if I can get in the sector I believe I can lay enough figs down to prevent them from entering.

Pretty much what you suggested.

Thanks for the additional input.

Remember that with photons, they can just go under your figs to get to the planets. You would need to put shielded planets there with enough of a sector blast to kill them if they tried to enter if you wanted to keep them out.

Ah, yes. Good point.

Don't forget about max # of planets per sec....Putting your planets in their sec to "try" and keep them out could cost YOU one of YOUR planets at extern.... :)

On that note, photon in and overload the sector in hopes one or two of THEIR shielded planets will collide at extern.... >:P

I prefer to just take all the Darn planets for myself.

Harley has given you the classic (low turn) tactics for blockading them in such a manner as to take your time. The key is to put them under an effective "siege." This can be difficult if their planets are strong enough to withstand your entire corp assault in one day, (including sector deployed figs). If they only have 4 planets, and their combined planetary and sector defenses are strong enough to pod everyone in your corp 2 times, and they are level 6, and they have a back sector with figs in it, you have only one choice. Some of your Corp members are going to have to make a THIRD run on the sector, sacrificing themselves for the cause. You only need one corp member to survive the entrance long enough to take out their sector figs and get your own figs down.

Now that you are in their sector, you lay down your figs in the sector, use ship to ship transport, and bring in a planet of your own. Now you can continually reload your ship from your planet and effectively drain their quasars. If it's a low turn game, I recommend draining their quasars and their interdictors by exiting and entering the game. This saves turns.

Once you've got their planets depleted of ore, you can slip into their back sector and take out their figs.

Now, you load up every single adjacent sector with your own planetary defenses. This is an effective siege. At this point, if any of them are ON one of the planets, they can only warp that one planet out, and they will have to overcome your siege/blockade to get back there and get the rest of their planets. (Remember to take ALL their ships out in that sector immediately so that they can't ship to ship and rescue more planets).

Basically, that's the simplest answer.

I'm with PHX, I don't like overloading and collision because what if the planet the collides is the "money" planet? Half the fun is taking someone's stockpile that they should have used to buy defenses. I love it when I take a sector and get 3 billion, especially when I know that if they had spent that money on defenses I never would have taken their sector to begin with.

It's the funnest part of the game, and it happens... well, ALOT!
