I am in a game that has been running for about 2 weeks. We have a 3 man corp 2 red's and 1 blue. We have 3 lvl 3 cit's, 1 lvl 4, and 1 lvl 5. We have 100,000 figs which is just about all of them in the universe at this point. We have managed to control all the citadels. I noticed yesterday that a 6 man corp joined in on the game. What should we do to prevent them from giving us any challenge? It will be alot harder to probe now with the fig cloud. Should we spend more time looking for them by manually searching deadends? Should we even be worried at all..and just continue doing what we are doing? The SD is beside Fed space so we can not block SD. I just don't want to let this slip away....any suggestions will be appreciated..

Control as many sectors as possible. If there is a "fig cloud" do your best to insure that it's your fig cloud. I can't stress this enough... many games are won or lost by how well a team keeps control of sectors. The more sectors a corp controls, the fewer places their opponents can hide without being found. This entails a lot of "sector management" keeping an eye out for figs that are destroyed in a dead end or tunnel sector, figs that are destroyed under upgraded ports, etc., but it's well worth the effort.

You want to control the dead ends and bubbles. Build a list, fig them out, and compare destroyed fig reports to your tunnel/bubble sector list. Check out the areas and refig them. Keep your reds making cash, eprobe with your spare turns. Use a good eprobe script that autovoids figged sectors and generates a list of unreachable sectors. Any sector that has no route to it because of deployed fighters is a good candidate for an enemy base.

If and when you see new citadels appear on the "V" information screen, redouble your efforts and try to catch your enemies before they can get planets to level 2, 3 and especially 4. It's always easiest to hit a base before they get to Level 2. Far less expensive.

How competitive is the game ?

With just one other corp with 6 members you may just want to add more players to your corp.

I can think of a couple of strategies to deny the other team the ability to win, but I wouldn't use them in a friendly game.

If you want to play "dirty" max out the planet slots in a sector and protect it with your lvl 5 and figs and replace the 2 planets that collide every night. You can ring fedspace (and stardock) with offensive figs, and blow up the ports in fedspace.
