Ok...I've ran into a few things of late that I have questons about.
1. While invading an enemy base I tried using the "moth" technique. I had a whole stash of alien ships I've captured that I was going to use for this. Ok...well I transport to a merchant cruiser go in and get blasted onto my escape pod. Ok...I go back and transport to a battleship, Go in and get blasted to the netherworld. No escape pod? Ok...so I figure its one of 2 things. Either you can only have one escape pod as mine was sitting in my home sector that I transported out of, or some alien ships don't have escape pods.
So the next day I sell my alien ships and buy a merchant freighter to continue my mothing. I go in and get blased to the netherworlds again?! No Escape pod? What did I do wrong?
2. The universe I'm playing in is a 5 plannets a sector max. Well...I made 10 more plannets in the sector he has his main plannet. Bigbang ran and nothing happened. What gives?
3. And the final question. At the end of my bubble where my main plannets were going to be, I made 5 plannets. 4 are Vaporus Gas plannets (WORTHLESS!) and the other was a Mountain (decent). Ok...so I pass this off as bad luck. I go to the next sector and make 5 more. 3 are gas, 1 is glacial and the other was oceanic. Is this bad luck or is it always like this? Is there a trick to it? Do it only when there is a full moon out or something?
Thanks,
Rocky

More than likely, you've reached your daily death limit... default is once you've been blown up 3 times in a day, you're out til the next day... less likely, there weren't pods in the alien ship or the merf.

your nme either blasted the planets in the sector that you made, or, if the citadels were high enough, he moved the good planets elsewhere, or, by luck of the draw, the planets missed each other when extern ran.

I see one major flaw in your strategy... When you are looking to build planets, try to build Mountainous, Volcanic, and Oceanic. Mountainous build citadels the fastest, volcanic can mass produce fuel ore (which is your lifeblood), and oceanic make the most fighters and can be used for p-trading later on.
When you are looking to build planets, do them one at a time. i.e., you fire a genesis torp, and you get a crap planet. Land on the planet, blow it up with an atomic detonator, and try again. This way, the navhaz you create when blowing up a planet is used to make the next planet. When you get a planet you want, skip the blowing up step and move on to the next planet you want (if you want another).
I believe there was a topic awhile back that discussed the odds of getting planets, but it was some time ago, you'll have to look back in the archived TW School topics.....
Hope this helps...

Sounds like the alien ship might not have had a pod .. this doesnt sound right because I didnt think "podless" alien ships could be capped .. is it possible that your pod got destroyed .. or that you had a death earlier in the day? ..
So the next day I sell my alien ships and buy a merchant freighter to continue my mothing. I go in and get blased to the netherworlds again?! No Escape pod? What did I do wrong?

when you get #sd# your not allowed to return until the next day .. now the thing to remember here is that even though your allowed back in the game .. it doesnt mean you have pods to use!!! .. Your allowed 2 pods betwen each extern! .. so check the logs and make sure extern has ran between the time you got #sd# the previous day and the time your wanting to moth! ..

Just bad luck .. I'me sure a pattern is in there somewhere .. but usually I say it's just down to luck .. depending on the game your in your L's are most important as starters .. 1 per sec max .. because they'll go l2 early .. and go l4 before anything else .. the rest of the sector with H's .. or 1 O and the rest H's .. if your into that sort of thing ..

ok...I'll try that when making plannets. Is it took late to do it though? Can I blow the other 4 gas plannets and make more? I didn't know it would make the nav haz go away. I assume it would still make the nav haz go away?
