 Re: Ferrengi killed by Q-cannon?
Yeah, the Gold aliens can wreck a fig grid ;) Maybe I should add some AI to actually go after grids, as an option of course. Once an alien hits a Fig, it'll seek out an adjacent sector with a fig, following the figs until they run out. Maybe even report to other aliens when there's more than one possible figged path out of a sector so they can come in and pick up on a different fig path. You could end up with several aliens fanning out and gobbling up your figs until there's nothing left. Heheh.

 Re: Ferrengi killed by Q-cannon?
Well, if yer gonna do that, you need to add something that allows us to hunt the little boogers down and kill them, thereby interrupting their plan of destruction eh? LOL

 Re: Ferrengi killed by Q-cannon?
If aliens are supposed to do everything players do, then there should be an option for aliens to do gridding too.

I'd rather have an option for players to NOT do gridding ;)
All I mean by that is they should follow the same rules, not that they should use the same tactics.

True since not all games have aliens. An option would be nice, Aliens on a rampage, not allow gridding, or limited gridding (each player or corp is allowed a set number) any one or all 3 would be nice.

 Re: Ferrengi killed by Q-cannon?
Right, a gameop would have some control over how effective aliens would be at harassing players like this. It's just one more way a gameop could shake up a game. Aliens are good for this because they're relentless, moving constantly, 24/7. And if you kill them, they pop right back into the game.

 Re: Ferrengi killed by Q-cannon?
I could call it the GridBuster behavior ;)
Of course, I'm out of room on the alien behaviors screen. That means I'll have to implement an option to switch to another page of options under the behaviors tab if I want to implement anything new. Oh, well, I'm sure I'll have to do that eventually anyway. Might as well just do it.

 Re: Ferrengi killed by Q-cannon?
Heh, I just thought of something which would probably be a waste of code, but might be cute for a while. Have aliens communicate with one another about fig grids or anything else they want... over subspace! Of course since they're talking in their own alien language, most of what you'd actually hear over their comms would be total gibberish. But there might be sector numbers, names of good trading pairs, planets, players, ships, etc. which one alien thought his buddies ought to know about for one reason or another. Of course some of the chatter might be total nonsense, as when aliens are talking to each other about totally alien things we humans couldn't possibly have a chance of comprehending.

 Re: Ferrengi killed by Q-cannon?
I think this might be cool since we players wont be having SS per corp feature , this added SS for aliens might be what is needed to slow and hinder SS crawling.
Not to mention how devastating alien anti grid can be if the alien server mode isn't set to sleep mode as default.
You think noobs have a hard time add those and see what happens.
But might be fun for those who have private servers and no real players to play with.

John Pritchett wrote: I'd rather have an option for players to NOT do gridding I forget if someone else suggested this, or if your comment just gave me the idea... but sysops could simply limit the number of deployed fighters (or the number of sectors containing them) that any one player or corp can have. This would probably be a lot simpler and more effective than the "fighter control station" idea I suggested in that other thread.

Or Aliens can be the grid busters and NOT leave their own figs behind. Or only leave them behind 20% of the time. Just enough to buggar up the eprobes.
