How does port upgrade work?

Probably a stupid question... What exactly does upgrading a port do? Does it up daily production of the resource by X amount? Does it up the total limit?
For that matter, how fast do ports recover from being tapped out? If I'm doing PPT and I drain a port down to 50%, does it recover, say, 10% per day? Does it recover 200 units per day? Or is it some other formula that I haven't figured out yet?
I've been searching for explanations and haven't had any luck through Google, so I hope you folks don't mind me asking here on the forums!

Port upgrading will increase the capacity of the port.
The port regen rate is set on the server.
You can check your game to see what it is set at.

Good to search before asking..but sometimes the answer is buried with lots of useless smack talk.
If you want to find the port production rate, before logging into the game, instead of hitting T to login to the game, hit * this will spew out a ton of game settings. Again, this is at the game login prompt:
==-- Trade Wars 2002 --==
T - Play Trade Wars 2002 I - Introduction & Help S - View Game Settings H - High scores X - Exit
Enter your choice:
Just hit * here. The production rate is a percentage, how much of the total volume of the port will recover in a 24 hr period.
At least, that's my understanding..

Each time you upgrade a port, it will sell/buy more product daily. The port regen setting is done in tedit and can be set as high as 200% per day. Max amount depends on the type of game you are running, meaning GOLD (64k max) or MBBS (32k max)

Cool. Thanks! It kind of looked like that was what was happening, but I wasn't sure.

ahh, yeah, version 3.13 has the * support...displaying game settings. You can tell the version from the 'V' screen in game, or the S (Settings) command at the above prompt...
