JP and others,
Given the recent response to the change in .51, which was fixed in .52 from what I understand, I wanted to provide some suggestions that I think would make TW better for newbies, and more balanced overall. Since that is the goal I hear you are reaching for, I think these might be of interest.

1. Read my piece on Newsnet http://www.tw2002.ws:8080/ onm Monday (that server is down till then). The summary is, Cimhunting is both unrealistic and gives script kiddies a huge edge on everyone, especially newbies who will not know how they are being found.

2. Since coming back to TW last year, after a 3 or so year hiatus, I have been struck by the ease at which people run mixed align corps. "Back in the day" heh, I don't know that it was harder, but I found it much less common. In fact, I always enjoyed the red/blue rivalry. Also, I think having a single corp, that has both reds and blues is the MOST destructive to gameplay, whether it hurts solo players, newbies, or just smaller corps. I would love to see it made harder to do this. SOme ideas would be, at extern, check for the corp's CEO's align, and boot everyone off the corp with a different polarity. Or, at extern, do the average align, if its average of -456, then boot all + people in the corp. While this does not make it impossible, I think it makes it harder, and its definitely harder to manage a red corp and a blue corp, than it is 1 or 2 mixed align corps.

3. Make type 2 twarp configurable. People are going to lauch at me, but ever since type 2 twarp was created, I think the game has been weaker. Anyway, I would love to be able to disable type 2 twarp in some of my games.

4. For delays you are considering, consider delays on data, not action. Invading can be tough enough as it is, so consider a delay on when I enter a sector, vs when my enemies figs tell him I entered the sector. Small delaays ought to help newbies and those with weak connections here. Now the trick here is, the delays have to be long enough to help newbies, but short enough they do not make defense impossible.

So, let me know concerns, I would love to thrash these and other ideas about, since I do of course know everything <G> but I am a nice genious and willing to share with you <snicker> heh.
