TWGS shouldn't require you to install into a particular directory, but since it's an unusual scenario, I just think it's one of the first things to look at.

Yeah, as Helix points out, it is not really an unusual scenario (at least, for Windows 7). I think it is done transparently to the application, since when I get a File Open dialog in TWGS, it thinks the game files are there under Program Files - I can see them - but in fact they are not there when I look under Explorer. It's just that Windows 7 tricks the app into thinking the files are somewhere they are not (of course, since the file system is an abstraction anyway, it's debatable where the files "really" are...).

But I'm happy to try to fix it by installing elsewhere. I'll let you know.

The thing that's unusual and might confuse TWGS is that TWGS seems to say that the game is located in [TWGS]\Game\GameA, which is the default location for game data directories, but when you go into the directory structure, it isn't there. That's strange. I just think it could be related to the issue, because with any situation that's rare like this, you look at the things that are different on the setup where the bug happens.

What makes me suspect this has nothing to do with the problem is the fact that extern will run manually. Seems more like it's an issue with the scheduler, which is why I asked about the date/time format on the system.

It seems like it is running now (two nights in a row) after I reset the server. So I'm not sure why it initially didn't run, but whatever the reason was, it works now in spite of the Windows 7 quirky setup.

I ran into a simular problem with my files being relocated. This article explains what microsoft is doing:

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums ... d5892b7218

basically, MS has decided to seperate program data from teh actual program. To the programs, the files still appears to be in the "program files" directory, even though Microsoft has actually moved them to the "...Appdata..." directory. TWGS appears to be ok with this, but you can "fix" it my setting "Run as administrator" in the TWGS shortcut.
