Hey guys, Lawdog here. I'm striving to make one of my edits mirror a movie theme, I can't think of a better way to set the mood for a game than to have a quick 10 line introduction to the game based off the theme of the movie. Is there any way to add into the start-up message your own prompt, say after the welcome message, or as an edited welcome message? |

V'Ger the sysop at Ice-9 has a server side script that can do that and much more! |

Also, you can use announce.txt or announce.ans in your game's directory to provide your own display at startup. |

I like the script idea, as the in-game message is only sent to new players when they log in. |

I was unable to locate the Announce.txt or Announce.ans, is it under /gamea/b? |

I got it to work thanks. I was just over-looking where the announcement was at. Also, is there a way to configure that announcement to only show when someone logs in for the first time? Like a welcome message for new players that veteran players won't have to keep seeing when they log on? |

I'll make a note, but no, not at this time. If something like that is added, it would need to be shown either after the player account is created, or at the same place as announce.txt, but the SECOND time a player connects. |

RemoteAccess BBS Software had OnceOnly.ans/asc It would only display once to each user. If the file was changed then it would display it again... only once. I'm pretty sure it worked by comparing the last date the user logged on to the date of the onceonly file. It was a pretty useful file. |

Yeah, that's a good way to go. But you don't actually know who a player is until they actually sign in, and announce.txt is shown before that point. So really, if I'm going to show it once per player, I have to show it after sign-in and not where announce.txt is shown. |
